CINCINNATI, OH - Two traditional baseball powerhouses squared off under the lights at the beautiful Prasco Park.

Junior Gus Ragland of Moeller, and sophomore Shane Smith of Elder took the mound in this marquee match up.  Both pitchers looked strong out of the gate as the first two innings flew by with no one scoring.

The Moeller bats came alive in the top of the 3rd.  Nine-hole hitter Brian Butz and Kentucky commit Riley Mahan both singled to start the inning.  After a sacrifice bunt, Spencer Iacovone (Marshall commit) punched a two RBI single into left field for a 2-0 lead.  Moeller finished the inning with two doubles from Cameron Whitehead, and Zach Logue stretching their lead to 4-0.

After a rough 3rd inning, Shane Smith settled back in, and did not give up another run for the rest of the game.

As Elder's opportunities were dwindling they started to rally in the 5th.  Moeller commited a couple errors putting runners in scoring position, and sophomore Kyle Orloff came through stroking an RBI double to right-center.  Elder was able to manufacture one more run making the score 4-2.

After giving up two runs, Gus Ragland shut the door on Elder getting the complete game victory, and recorded nine strikeouts.

Final Score: Moeller- 4 Elder- 2
