GROVE CITY, OH -- Upper Arlington took on Gahanna win or go home, District Semi-Final matchup.

Underdog Upper Arlington sent veteran Sam Thompson to the mound in hopes to knock off a loaded Lions squad.  Gahanna decided to go with their ace, Alec Tuohy (Buffalo commit) to get past a young Golden Bear team.

Tuohy came out of the gate throwing gas in the 1st, sitting 87-89 mph.  The Golden Bear lineup was not phased by Tuohy's overpowering fastball, as Mitch Nini stroked a two out two RBI double, giving Upper Arlington an early 2-0 lead.

Those two runs would be all the Upper Arlington lineup could muster, as Gahanna's Alec Tuohy put on a clinic.

The powerful Gahanna lineup struck back tallying a run of their own in the bottom of the first, when Kent State commit Evan White hit a sacrifice fly scoring Zach Baumann tagging from third.

Upper Arlington pitcher Sam Thompson ran into trouble when he faced the Lions lineup for a second time.

In the bottom of the 4th, the Lions bats came alive.  Cleanup hitter Alex Delp started the rally with a double down the third base line.  Pitcher Alec Tuohy helped his cause smoking a line-drive, which plated Delp.  It didn't stop there as Shawn Martin, and Trent Champlin both recorded RBI hits giving themselves a 4-2 lead.

As Tuohy kept cruising through Golden Bear lineup, the Lions bats broke the game open in the bottom of the 5th.  With one out and the bases loaded, Shawn Martin dropped down a beautiful bunt single recording his second RBI of the game.  Directly after, Peyton Ross and Trent Champlin both recorded RBI's stretching the Lions lead to 7-2.

Alec Tuohy struck out four of the last six Golden Bear batters, advancing Gahanna to the district final. In Tuohy's complete game victory, he struck out 15 batters, giving up only 3 hits.

Gahanna will play Olentangy Orange Wednesday (5/22) in a likely pitching matchup between Mason Daniels, and Paul Trick.
