PBR: Why did you choose Akron?

Stambaugh: Akron is perfect for me. They have my exact major I want and when it comes to baseball they are a team that will always compete and I can't wait to be a part of it.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Stambaugh: Albany, Radford, and Buffalo.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you and how did your relationship develop?

Stambaugh: Coach Smith first saw me at OSU last fall, ever since then we have been in contact and increasingly more as time went on.

PBR: You recently participated in PBR’s Top Prospects Games.  How did your performance help you in the recruiting process?

Stambaugh: It helped me get more looks to open my options, but most importantly it was another chance for Akron to watch me throw.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Stambaugh: It's the best feeling in world knowing that your dreams are becoming a reality. Division I baseball was my biggest goal in life and it feels great to achieve something you've wanted for so long.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Stambaugh: I play for the Ohio Elite under Chris Valentine. The most memorable experience from this year is when we beat the East Cobb Astros. We beat a great team and it was a hard fought game.

PBR:  What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?

Stambaugh: Well my dad for sure. But the person that has most impacted me and where I'm at today is David Lee. From cutting me in 13u to exposing me and doing everything possible to get me into college from 16u on. I wouldn't be here without David.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Highland?

Stambaugh: 6-3, 72 Strikeouts, .92 ERA, 53 Innings pitched

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Stambaugh: The toughest pitcher I would say is Jimmy Crabtree. For an upcoming junior the kid has tons of potential.
