Q and A with Northern Kentucky Commit Anthony Vagnier (Logan Elm)

Vagnier

PBR: Why did you choose Northern Kentucky?
Vagnier:  The chance to come and play my freshman year and as well as the chance to get to play in one of the great baseball conferences in the Atlantic Sun.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Vagnier:  Akron and Bowling Green

PBR: Where did NKU first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Vagnier:  Over the summer, coach Asalon saw me play 5 or 6 different times this summer. I felt like we had an instant connection when I sat down to talk with all the coaches and I felt like this is a great fit for me in that sense.

PBR: Did NKU’s switch to Division 1 athletics help decide your decision?
Vagnier:  Yes it did have a big influence on my decision.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Vagnier:  They expect me to come in and work hard and compete for a starting outfield position early.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help NKU?
Vagnier:  I feel as if my athletic ability and my competitiveness will be my biggest strength coming in as a freshman.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Vagnier:  I play for Ohio Elite Valentine. Seeing all of my friends sign to big name schools to go to the next level and play was the greatest part of the summer.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season? Vagnier:  I want to go in being the best player I can be and compete for not only this season but to get ready for college ball. I think our team this year has a real shot to compete in the league and make it to the district tournament.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Logan Elm?
Vagnier:  BA: .493, Doubles: 8, Triples 5, HR: 1, Stolen Basses: 15. 1st team all league honors & 1st team all district honors.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Vagnier:  Taylore Cherry
