Scouting Report: Week 3 of Fall Prospect Program

Notable performances from Sunday, September 16th at Wittenberg University

2013 IF/C Kyle Lento (Dublin Jerome HS) - He plays the game hard, and continues to be a scrappy player. Lento makes up for any lack of athleticism with his understanding of his skills and the ability to always make routine plays. The right handed swinging utility player always finds himself on the base paths and will be a solid player at the next level.

2013 RHP/IF Jake Newton (Bloom Carroll HS) - Very rarely do evaluators have the opportunity too see lengthy outings by pitchers in the fall, but with a few men short, Newton provided an attitude many coaches enjoy. Newton battled and persevered through extended innings keeping hitters off balance and consistently challenging hitters. Newton's fastball sat between 76-79 mph while his breaking ball was 69-71. His impressive outing piggy backed off a six strikeout performance in only three innings last week. Newton will be someone to follow as his frame seems to have more velocity.

2014 OF/1B Hunter Stewart (Miamisburg HS) - Had a solid approach this weekend, and had good results to show from it. His laced triple seemed to be one of the few bright spots at the plate for both teams, as pitching seemed to dominate the morning set of games.

2014 IF/RHP Braydon Focht (Northmont HS) - Athletic player according to relative size who showcased himself to be able to make some tough plays in the infield. Focht also hit one of the hardest balls all day as his aggressive approach proved to be effective.

2013 IF Patrick McAlpine (Moeller HS) - Shows athleticism in the infield, while also displaying a short compact swing at the plate. McAlpine has not been able to produce at a level the infielder expects of himself, but his actions are present and noticeable. The athleticism allows him to play on either side of the infield however will more than likely project as a second baseman at the next level.

2013 LHP Greg Jacknewitz (Bishop Watterson HS) - The left handed lanky left handed hurler displays week in, and week out his ability to get hitters out. Jacknewitz doesn't have the most overpowering fastball but he is able miss barrels with his arm side run and also his ability to throw his breaking ball for strikes in fastball counts.

2014 OF/3B Nick Wiseman (Northeastern) - Had an impressive day at the plate to say the least. His inside the park home run, along with a stand up triple lead the offense for the Blue team and the league. His short swing and impressive power is something to keep an eye on moving forward. Only being a 2014 graduate makes his performance that much more impressive.

2014 catcher BJ Donathan (Tippecanoe HS) was 3 for 6 on the day with a single, double, and triple. He showed good power at the plate and a potential middle of the order bat.

Velocities (If Velocity of pitcher isn't listed, its due to evaluators attending to the missing umpire. ALL velocities will be displayed next week, as well as the October 14th showcase)
