With 2021 now in the past, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best 2022 high school coverage that can be found anywhere. 2022 Spring Team Preview: St. Henry Redskins

Team Name: St. Henry Redskins
Head Coach: Mike Gast
Division: IV
2021 Record: 20-11
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 5/4

2022 Team Strengths:

  • Leadership
  • Pitching Depth

Coach Outlook: "We return seven seniors and five starters from a team that lost 1-0 in 11 innings in the district championship to state runner-up Lincolnview. Gone from that team, along with the other members of an energetic 2021 class, include Tyler Dehan (CF - Defiance College) and Ryan Uhlenhake (SP/3B - Indiana Tech). There is a lot to be optimistic about with our returning players, particularly in the infield (3B Mark Knapke, SS Bryce Brookhart, 2B Shane Franck, C Clayton Everman) and starting pitcher Nolan Schmitz (LHP - Indiana Tech commit). Question marks remain with a couple of spots in the outfield (Senior Seth Heitkamp returning) and in the starting rotation after Schmitz, but we are fortunate to have 4-5 candidates that have potential to fill both roles for us. Our success this season will depend on a couple of new starters emerging and returning starters building on their successes from 2021."

  • Nolan Schmitz, LHP/OF, 2022, 6'3", 190 pounds, L/L, returning starting pitcher & Indiana Tech commit. Last Year Stats - 64 IP, 6-4 W/L, 1.313 ERA/1.078 WHIP, 92 K, .170 BAA
  • Clayton Everman, C, 2022, 5'11", 190 pounds, R/R, returning starter who fought through a shoulder injury most of the season. Last Year Stats - .316 AVG (25-79), .379 OBP, 4 2B, 1 HR, 15 RBI, 12 R
  • Bryce Brookhart, SS, 2023, 5'10", 165 pounds, R/R, returning starter after missing most of the 2021 season with a football injury/surgery. Last Year Stats - .357 AVG (15-42), .472 OBP, 4 2B, 7 RBI, 10 R, 3 SB
