Uncommitted Spotlight: Late Start Pitching Has Not Hurt Laird

Jack Laird 1B / RHP / Elyria Catholic, OH / 2019

ELYRIA - When Jack Laird first joined the Lake Erie Warhawks the original plans had catcher penciled in as his position.

“Then they saw me throw and they wanted me to try pitching,” explained Laird. “It worked out pretty good.”

Now the Elyria Catholic junior is getting college interest at a position he has only been playing since 2014.

“Right now I’m going to a lot of camps to get in front of them,” said the 6-2 190-pounder, who has been to Ohio State, Ohio U and Kent State so far. “I also went to the Top Prospect Games and that helped a lot. A lot of coaches came.”
