Updated Class of 2022 Player Rankings (September)

In 2020 we have had a year unlike any other ... No Spring HS season, uncertainty all summer with tournaments and showcases and the same can still be said this fall. But that hasn't stopped us from searching far and wide throughout the state to find the best prospects we can, to help them get to college and to help colleges find prospects that fit their culture.

Despite the tumultuous summer, many names came off the board to some of the top programs around the nation, many new names came to the forefront of the recruiting scene, and many prospects improved their game.

That being said, we have had the pleasure of seeing a number of solid players this past year. Prospects are popping up left and right, making velocity jumps, improving 60-yard dash times and showing more power with the bat.

Below we will take a look at “The Risers”, "The Newcomers”, "Uncommitted Gamers", "The Sleepers" and some of the top uncommitted prospects by position.

Coming soon ... We will have the Class of 2022 Rankings Positional Breakdown, which you will be able to view by clicking here.

The Risers

Kayden Campbell LHP / OF / Fairfield, OH / 2022

Report: Whatever LHP Kayden Campbell (Fairfield HS) did this offseason it obviously was a good investment on his end. We had eyes on him at this winter’s Preseason All-State and there were definitely things to like at 6-foot-2, up to 84mph with a sharper breaking ball. However, he looked like a different human being when we saw him this summer...Fastball climbed to 90mph, breaking ball sharpened up and he looked to have developed the changeup a bit more. His jump caught the attention of colleges across the midwest prior to him choosing to continue his athletic/academic career at the University of Louisville.

Brady Shannon OF / 3B / Youngstown Ursuline, OH / 2022

Report: Uncommitted OF Brady Shannon went from an under the radar guy to one of the hotter names on the recruiting scene after a MONSTER summer that culminated with him being one of the offensive MVPs for Team Ohio at the Future Games. Shannon presently is entertaining D1 football offers to go along with several D1 baseball offers, but he has an almost unlimited ceiling offensively as he continues to progress/possibly becomes a baseball only athlete at the next level.

Caden Robinson RHP / OF / New Albany, OH / 2022

Report: Uncommitted RHP Caden Robinson out of New Albany HS is another guy who really helped himself this summer. Everything started to come together early in the summer and he just continued to get better throughout. Obvious athleticism on the mound with a fast arm that generated fastball velocities up to 90mph which is a far cry from the 84mph we saw this winter. Robinson went from under the radar to a guy receiving D1 attention across the midwest after his performance for Team Ohio at the Future Games.

The Newcomers

Landon Beidelschies LHP / 1B / Canfield, OH / 2022

Report: Landon Beidelschies (Canfield HS) is a two-way prospect who we also ran across at the Northern Ohio Prospect Games. His performance there was good enough to earn a Top Prospect Games invitation which he parlayed into a Future Games invite to play for Team Select. On the mound he can run it up to 85 mph but the separator is his ability to spin the breaking ball. Spins a hammer of a breaker with an impressive combination of action and feel. Although stock is a bit higher on the mound right now he’s also a LHH first baseman with easy juice that can get into the mid 90s exit velo wise.

Joseph Roth RHP / C / Austintown Fitch, OH / 2022

Report: 6-foot-3 RHP Joseph Roth out of Austintown Fitch HS sure made the most of his PBR debut at this years’ Northern Ohio Prospect Games. The 6-foot-3 mound prospect sat in the mid 80s, touching 87 mph with an above average breaking ball and quality changeup. A guy college coaches need to get out and take a look at.

RJ Shunck LHP / 1B / Evergreen, OH / 2022

Report: Staying on the mound another guy who earned a spot amongst the state’s best is LHP RJ Shunck out of Evergreen HS. Went from under the radar to high follow this summer. The upside is obvious at 6-foot-6, left-handed, and up to 84 mph with feel for the zone and playable offspeed. Going to be an interesting arm once everything comes together.

Uncommitted Gamers

Here is a list of a few 2022s who caught our eye with their ability to consistently perform in game action.

DJ Newman SS / RHP / Archbold, OH / 2022

Report: Two-way prosepect DJ Newman had a huge summer for Ohio Elite and after standing out at the Northern Ohio Top Prospect Games, he got the nod to attend the Future Games with Team Select. He did not disapoint, going 4-6 at the plate with two singles, two doubles, two stolen bases and a walk, while striking out three in two innings of work on the bump. Newman also ran the fastest 60-time from Ohio prospects while putting together a solid BP. Time will tell where he ends up defensively but the athleticism and arm strength shows he could stay on the left side. With the bat, he hit all summer and also can run the fastball up to 86 mph which is compliment with a good 12/6 breaker. Newman is a three-sport athlete who is the QB in football and a wing in basketball.

Cody Schneider 2B / SS / Beavercreek, OH / 2022

Report: Recently reclassified to the 2022 class. The combination of him and Cam Bryant back to back was a nightmare for pitchers all summer. A RHH with fluid/efficient movement patterns, the ability to square up the baseball consistently, and offers advanced strike zone knowledge. An absolute on base machine who is also a sure-handed defender.

Cooper Vance SS / RHP / Mohawk, OH / 2022

Report: A two-way prospect with a lot to like. The first thing that stands out about Cooper is his ability with the glove. Flies around the field defensively on the left side of the infield. An aggressive defender that consistently made tough plays all summer. Also has a versatile skill set offensively and will hop on the mound and show you a mid 80s fastball. Talented ball player.

Brennyn Bell-Bucher RHP / 1B / Stephen T. Badin, OH / 2022

Report: This guy straight carves every time we’ve been in attendance. Delivery has some uniqueness but it really works for him as he is able to repeat it/fill up the zone with his entire repertoire. One of the top performers at this years’ Southern Ohio Top Prospect Games. The 6-foot-3 mound prospect’s stock will continue to ascend as he grows into more velocity.

Brayden Fraasman C / 2B / Ross, OH / 2022

Report: The BP is solid, flashing the ability to generate near triple digit exit velos but to get a full idea of his offensive abilities scouts need to see in game.  We got a chance to see Brayden at multiple games/showcases and all he did was rake. An extra base hit machine that is also an above average defender behind the dish.

The Sleepers

Andrew Hendrickx RHP / SS / Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, OH / 2022

Report: Yes he’s a higher ranked guy but we don’t think Kent State commit Andrew Hendrickx is close to his ceiling, especially on the mound. The 2020 Future Games invitee has already shown velocities in the mid 80s and reportedly higher but his velo ceiling is one of the higher we have in the state. Very clean mover with athleticism and a fast arm. Expect any added strength to easily translate to velocity and from all accounts Hendrickx is a worker. Kent State got a good one here.

Joseph Valentine LHP / OF / Medina, OH / 2022

Report: Another arm to keep an eye on who we think will only raise stock over the next few years is uncommitted LHP Joseph Valentine out of Medina HS. A quick-armed southpaw that has a mobile lower half. Delivery comes together well with a heater already up to 84 mph. At 6-foot, 154-pounds there is still a ton of physical projection left here. Breaking ball will need to tighten up but you could easily see this being an upper 80s lefty if not higher before it’s all said and done.

Cameron Bryant SS / RHP / Cincinnati Country Day, OH / 2022

Report: Maybe the biggest sleeper of all is uncommitted UTL Cam Bryant out of Cincinnati Country Day. We’ve been on the Bryant train for a while not because all this guy does is hit. He’s not the biggest dude in the world but measurables across the board continue to rise and in game there are few guys across the state that can find the barrel as often as he does. Very tough guy to get out who you can throw wherever you want in a lineup.
