Updated Class of 2025 Player Rankings (March)

Throughout the winter we were all over the state, scouting numerous prospects and seeing many new names came to the forefront of the recruiting scene. With that information, we are updating each of our class rankings based off what we have seen. We start with the Class of 2025.

As winter sports come to an end and our season is about to kick off, we will take a look at "What's New at the Top", "Notable Newcomers”, "Winter Showcase Standouts", "Prospects College Coaches Need To Circle Back To", and a look some of the top uncommitted prospects by position.

What's New At The Top

Zion Theophilus RHP / OF / Archbishop Moeller , OH / 2025

Report: Our top 10 remains the same as it was in December heading into the spring season. At the top is our Preseason Player of the Year, Zion Theophilus. The right-handed flame thrower out of Moeller High School revamped the arsenal over the winter and looks to raise his draft stock this spring. Whether it ends up being pro ball or LSU, there’s a lot to look forward to next year for Ohio’s top ranked prospect.

Owen Shinada RHP / 2B / Twinsburg, OH / 2025

Report: Remaining in the top 10 also is No. 8 Owen Shinada, the Indiana commit out of Twinsburg. After being on the shelf for much of the 2024 spring season Owen found his stride over the summer and carried that into a productive off season. The right handers with a loose, whippy arm topped at 92.5 in this year’s ProCase.

Notable Newcomers

Alex Moran 1B / RHP / Westlake, OH / 2025

Report: New to the rankings and coming it at No. 135 is the two-way right hander from Westlake, Alex Moran. Moran made an impression on our staff with a great workout at Northern Ohio PreSeason All-State in January. During that workout he was up to 88 off the mound and sat in the mid 9s off the bat.

Jake Ralph SS / 2B / Canal Winchester High School, OH / 2025

Report: Breaking in at No. 151 is the left-handed hitting shortstop out of Canal Winchester, Jake Ralph. Another one who was limited in 2024 due to injury but looks to cap off his high school career with a strong senior campaign. Ralph has a sweet left-handed stroke that tops in the upper 9s while posting a 6.85 in the 60 yd dash and clocking in a 80+ across the infield.

Winter Showcase Standouts

Colton Landtiser RHP / 3B / Pickerington Central, OH / 2025

Report: A standout at ProCase, Colton Landtiser sat at 90-92 with up to 22 inches of vert on the FB. The 80-81 mph slider was controlled in the zone with up to 2800 RPMs, late and sharp action. After a standout junior season he looks to put the finishing touches on a great HS career at Pickerington Central.

Owen Mckoon C / Perry, OH / 2025

Report: Physical specimen who showed out at ProCase. Owen McKoon continues to add physicality while maintaining his high level baseball actions. The 6-foot, 208-pound catcher / outfielder ran a 6.51 in the 60 while clocking in at 82 from behind home plate. The swing is in good shape, consistently on the barrel and producing EVs up to 98 with wood. Whether he sticks behind the plate or moves to the outfield to take advantage of his speed is still a question mark but either way, ULM is getting a valuable speed and power combination in McKoon.

Josh Mommers 2B / SS / Rocky River, OH / 2025

Report: An underrated player early in HS career, Josh Mommers has made huge strides the past two offseasons and puts himself in a great position to have a monster senior year leading into his freshman season at BGSU. The arm strength in the infield continues to improve while he’s added some more power at the plate, 99 with wood at ProCase. The 6.77 runner can also make an impact with his legs.

College Coaches Need to Circle Back To

Nicholas Weiss RHP / RHP / Big Walnut, OH / 2025

Report: 6-foot-3, 195-pound right hander who dominated at Big Walnut last spring that coaches will want to get another look at this spring. Sat mid 8s last we saw him, expect another jump to have been made this offseason.

Jacob Paluczak RHP / OF / North Royalton, OH / 2025

Report: 6-foot, 165-pound righty that was up to 90mph in his bullpen at Release scout day this winter. Has the ability to spin the secondary arsenal in the zone when needed, slider works well as a chase offering from strike to ball.
