Avery Ortiz SS / RHP / Union, OK / 2023

The 2023 infielder/rhp had quite the coming out party on the national stage.  It started in the workout day where Ortiz ran a 6.73 60 to go along with his 89 mph arm across the diamond.  IN the Loden physical testing Ortiz ranks among the top 1% of all athletes they have ever tested showing how physically gifted he is to go along with his baseball skills.  During the games Ortiz put his elite bat speed on display picking up a couple of hits and to go along with some loud outs.  He showcased his smooth fielding and dynamic range in the infield playing all three spots.  He also jumped on the mound for one inning on Thursday and one inning on Saturday where the fastball worked up to 91 mph and the slider up to 79 mph with tight action and spin.

Weston Rouse LHP / 1B / Fort Gibson , OK / 2023

The 2023 LHP has continually made strides throughout the Summer and since we have last seen him back in the Spring.  At an imposing 6-foot-6 and 215-pounds, Rouse does a good job of getting the ball going downhill and reached up to 89 mph with the fastball with the spin rate in the mid 2400’s.  Where Rouse has continued to make strides is in the breaking ball where it now sits 72-74 mph with spin rates around 2200 RPM.  He as always been a consistent strike thrower and with the stuff starting to make a jump the projectability is starting to rise.  Teams looking for a workhorse and durable left handed arm that continues to make strides will find that in Rouse and will be an interesting prospect to continue follow in the future.

Taber Stokes SS / 2B / Mustang , OK / 2023

The 2023 infielder put his smooth defensive abilities and athletic swing to work throughout the week showing he can play anywhere on the infield and look very comfortable.  During the workout portion Stokes made consistent line drive contact with exit speeds reaching up to 91 mph to go along with his 25 mph hand speed according to the Blast Motion sensor.  Where Stokes really shines is his ability to defend at a high level during the games showing his smooth rhythm and very good body control.  Programs looking for a steady defender that can stay at shortstop will find that in Stokes, as he has shown the ability to show up and play defense everyday at an impact position to go along with a balanced swing that continues to show improvement each time we see him.
