Scouting Report
The new Oklahoma commit is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound athletic build. Works from a slightly up-tempo delivery with good rhythm and athleticism. Olds has a long arm stroke in the back before whipping his arm through at a just above side arm slot, and a violent finish. Fastball sits 87-89 with massive arm side run and sink. Slider has 10/4 shape with late depth, backs up at times, 73-77 mph. Easily one of the best arms in Oklahoma’s 2018 class. At the OK Underclass Prospect Games, Olds struck out five of the six batters he faced in two innings, not allowing a hit.

PBR: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Was there a particular game or event that you feel turned the corner for you?
OLDS: It started to heat up right after the Central Oklahoma College Showcase.

PBR: Where did Oklahoma first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
OLDS: They first saw me at the Pete Hughes baseball camp this fall. My relationship with the coaches /staff grew from there.

PBR: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?
OLDS: Yes, my family is really important to me so only being 45 minutes away from home was a big plus.

PBR: What do you like most about Oklahoma and what were the key factors in making your decision?
OLDS: I've been a OU fan ever since I was born, and it's always been a dream of mine to play there. Coach Hughes and Coach Johnson also took a big part in helping me decide. They have a winning mentality at Oklahoma and that's something I want to be a part of.

PBR: What advice would you give young baseball players striving to get where you are?
OLDS: Never stop working because things can change in an instant.

PBR: What do you do in the offseason to keep yourself in baseball shape and prepare for the upcoming season?
OLDS: I put down the ball for 3 months every winter. I don't play catch or throw bullpens to give my arm a break, just take the time to get stronger/ focus on hitting.

PBR: Preview your high school season for us.  How do you feel your team will be? What are your expectations and goals?
OLDS: We should be pretty good this year, we have the ability to be really good with the talent we have. The obvious goal is winning the state championship.
