OK Class of 2024 Initial Rankings

Andy Urban
OK/MO/KS Executive Scouting Director

Here we go again. Oklahoma's Class of 2024 is already showing signs of being another national powerhouse class, continuing the tradition of Oklahoma leading the country in nationally ranked players per capita. Through local Oklahoma tournaments and events, national tournaments at Grand Park, Creekside, and Lakepoint, and the Junior Future Games, we have been able to collect info on hundreds of Oklahoma Freshman baseball players this year. As usual, we have trimmed down the list from over 200 Okies to the top 50 for this initial rankings. We will aggressively adjust and expand this list as we get more looks and more data on the 2024 players in the state. If you haven't checked out our rankings process, you can read more about it, here. Below is an in-depth look at the top 10 prospects in the initial rankings.

The Top 10

Kash Mayfield LHP / OF / Elk City, OK / 2024

The 6-foot-1, 150-pound left-hander impressed with clean actions, a loose arm and a ton of strikes at the OK Summer Underclass Games. The projection was apparent and Mayfield saw he velo jump from 76 at the beginning of the summer to the mid 80s by the end of the summer by multiple reports. With much more still in the tank, Mayfield is quickly becoming one of the top left-handers in the country.

Luke Williams LHP / OF / Lincoln Christian, OK / 2024

One of the top performers of any state at the PBR Junior Future Games, the 5-foot-10, 150-pound quick twitch athlete impressed on both sides of the ball. On the mound, Williams sits 81-84 mph topping at 85 with arm-side run and two advanced off speed offerings. Offensively,  Williams makes consistent loud contact with sneaky pop from the left-side (85 exit velo). Defensively, Williams patrols the outfield with a 7.26 60 and shows off a 90 mph arm.

Garrett Shull SS / RHP / Enid , OK / 2024

An Oklahoma State commit, the 6-foot, 175-pound switch hitting shortstop keeps getting better and better. Defensively, Shull shows well advanced actions and arm strength (85 mph) for his age that will continue to get better an allow him to stay on the dirt at the next level. Offensively, Shull stands out as a capable switch hitter with a polished left-handed swing producing Trackman exit velos up to 92 mph.

Tanner Primeaux 1B / LHP / Jenks , OK / 2024

An eye popping physical specimen, Primeaux stands 6-foot-5, 230-pounds with strength throughout. A capable left-handed hitter with pop (84 mph), the left-hander shines brightest on the mound. After some lingering injuries, Primeaux had a coming out party at the Junior Future Games where he closed for the OK club. Sitting 84-86 and only throwing three balls in the inning, Primeaux struck out the side.

Brex Caldwell RHP / 1B / Red Oak, OK / 2024

The Oklahoma State commit stands an impressive 6-foot-3, 210-pounds. On the mound, we have seen Caldwell attack the zone with a fastball at 80-83 in a pen setting with reports into the upper 80s in-game. The right-hander throws with tilt from an over the top slot and mixes in a tight breaking ball at 72-73 mph. Offensively, the left-handed hitter shows pop with an 85 mph exit velo and moves very well for his size with 7.33 60.

Pryce Bender SS / RHP / Edmond North, OK / 2024

Bender is a lean, projectable, and quick twitch 6-foot-2, 160-pound athlete with lots of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter knows how to use his levers to create power (90 mph exit velo) while showing enough barrel control to hit high end pitching in game, which he did at the Junior Future Games. Bender is also a rangy (6.81 60) and sure handed defender as shortstop with an accurate and strong arm (81 mph). On the mound, Bender is an advanced strike thrower with his 80-82 mph 2-seam. He also mixes a curveball, slider, and changeup for strikes.

Jordan Myers SS / RHP / Jenks, OK / 2024

Myers is a 6-foot-1, 165-pound athlete that produces power on the mound and at the plate. The right-handed hitter uses a big leg kick and coil before launching his hands uphill producing tee exit velos of 85 mph. When on time, Myers is a deep threat. On the mound, Myers uses his short catcher's arm action to fill up the zone with a fastball at 82-85 touching 86. He also spins and advanced CB at 66-68 and changeup at 70-71. Myers shows off his strong arm defensively as well, throwing pop times as low as 2.1 and going 86 mph across the infield.

Bryan Williams Jr OF / 3B / Midwest City , OK / 2024

Athletic, lean, and projectable Williams Jr. is a quick twitch as freshman come. Williams Jr. already runs a 6.78 60 and throws 85 mph from the outfield. Offensively, the right-handed hitter uses a simple and compact sing to produce exit velos of 84 mph. He shows doubles pop in game and puts pressure on the defensive every time he puts the ball in play. He also has feel on the base paths, making him hard to keep off of third base. Williams will also get on the mound and show off a fastball at 77-78 mph mixed with a cutter, changeup, and curveball.

Braylon Brooks SS / RHP / Tuttle, OK / 2024

A 5-foot-7, 145-pound high energy athlete, Brooks is a solid two-way prospect. On the mound, the right-hander competes in the zone  with a fastball that he runs 82-85 mph. He pairs his fastball with a 67-69 mph curveball as was as a 69-70 changeup that he throws to left-handers. Offensively, the right-handed hitter uses simple and balanced swing to hit for a high average with some pop. Defensively, Brooks shows advanced actions, playing low to the ground with clean feet, soft hands, and enough arm strength to stay on the left-side of the infield.

Tyler Davis RHP / 3B / Owasso, OK / 2024

A 5-foot-8, 160-pound right-hander, Davis has a live arm on the mound. Davis saw a velo jump this summer along with increased command allow him to have a couple of strong outings at the Junior Future Games. What separates Davis though is his exceptional feel for a slider at 73-75 that he spins at a jaw dropping  peak 2681 RPMs. Davis is also a capable outfielder. Davis also shows his athleticism as a capable outfielder.
