OK High School Preseason Spotlight: Cashion

Diego Solares
Staff Writer

The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on March 2nd, opening day for regular season action under Ossaa regulations. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2021 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

If you would like your team covered, please have your head coach email us at [email protected]

Our 2021 preseason coverage continues today.

Team: Cashion High School
OSSAA Class: 2A
Head Coach: Blake Mounce
Returning Starters: 6
Returning Pitchers: 3

TOP PLAYERS

Brexton Green, C/P/SS, 2021

A do-it-all type of player for Cashion, Green slots into this lineup as an all-around impact player for head coach Blake Mounce’s squad. He’ll play multiple positions across the diamond and even hop on the bump to provide Cashion with some quality, competitive innings.

Hayden Branch, RHP, 2021

Anchoring this team on the mound, Branch is currently penciled in as the team’s top rotation option. A 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-hander with a mid-80s fastball that he’ll spot up in the zone, Cashion feels like they have a shot to compete in each game he toes the rubber.

OUTLOOK

STRENGTHS: From top-to-bottom this Cashion team features several athletic players that can really impact the game with their speed. They view this, internally, as the team’s biggest asset offensively.

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Outside of Branch, the pitching depth littered throughout this roster is somewhat of a question mark from an experience standpoint. They also graduated their starting backstop and two quality arms last season, so replacing that level of production will be an integral part to their success in 2021.
