OK High School Preseason Spotlight: Hartshorne

Diego Solares
Staff Writer

The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on March 2nd, opening day for regular season action under Ossaa regulations. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2021 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

If you would like your team covered, please have your head coach email us at [email protected]

TOP PLAYERS

This Hartshorne squad is anchored by five members of the 2022 class that have played together for a number of years now and are eager to make their mark at the state’s 2A level. Captaining this ship from behind the dish is John Beauchamp, a 5-foot-10, 205-pound right-handed hitting backstop. Manning their up-the-middle defense are 2B Bryson Cervantes and SS Caden James, with 3B Landen Burke rounding out the left side of their infield. That leaves OF Bo Wilkett to patrol the outfield for head coach Justin James’ squad.

OUTLOOK

STRENGTHS: “Committed group of kids that strive to be back in the state tournament. Big group of juniors that have played together for a number of years. Sound defensively with a versatile offensive game.”

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: “Lack of playing time due to last season being cut short.”
