PBR OK hosted the third annual OK Preseason All-State Showcase at the state of the art World Baseball Outreach indoor facility. There were nearly 95 invite-only players showcased their skill in front of the PBR OK staff, 3 colleges and a pro scout. The talented event saw ten sub 7.00 60s, nine 90+ exit velos, 16 infield velos of 80+, four outfield velos of 85+, seven sub 2.00 second pop times, and 23 max fastballs at 80+ mph. Players profiles have been updated with stats, pictures, and video. The number below do not represent a players all-time best, only what they achieved at this event.

Today, we take an in-depth look at the 20 shortstops from the event. 

Camden Bates SS / 2B / Washington , OK / 2023

Showcased a twitchy 5-foot-9, 145-pound frame with advanced athleticism and room to fill out as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with a slightly open stance with the weight slightly shifted towards the backside. A controlled leg-kick created advanced barrel whip through a slightly uphill path at contact point. Stayed through the hitting zone for a long time off the tee as evidenced by his 87 mph bat-exit velocity and consistent peppering of both gaps. Hits into a stiff front side with feel for getting through extension with regularity. Ran a 7.21 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder featured smooth actions with advanced footwork yielding advantageous hops. Quick hands and a glove tap added some rhythm during his gathering of the baseball and generated accurate 79 mph throws across the diamond out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. 

Bobby Byers 2B / SS / Cascia Hall, OK / 2021

Displayed a lean 5-foot-9, 145-pound frame with present athleticism. The right-handed hitter begins with a balanced, open stance utilizing a repeatable lift and replace stride to initiate his swing. Demonstrated a short barrel path through a slightly uphill path in the zone hitting into a stiff front side. Showed solid feel for his hands off the tee while registering a 76 mph bat-exit velocity. Recorded a 6.96 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder showcased advanced movements with fluidity and rhythm during defensive evaluations. Feet were active and played through the ball allowing for quick transfers to generate accurate 82 mph arm strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot.

Keaton Campbell SS / 3B / Charles Page, OK / 2022

Featured a lean 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame with some physicality and room to fill out as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with a wide, even stance utilizing a leg-kick to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path through the baseball. Generated some length to the swing off the tee while creating backspin to both gaps off the tee. Registered an 81 mph bat-exit velocity and recorded a 7.58 60-yard dash. Showcased active feet and a low center of gravity during defensive evaluations with soft hands. Notched an accurate 76 mph arm-strength across the infield with a lack of hip shoulder separation upon release out of a high ¾ arm-slot.

Bryson Evans SS / OF / Comanche, OK / 2022

Showcased a lean 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with some athleticism and room to add size as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with a quick load and short lift-and-replace stride initiating a flat barrel path into the zone. Demonstrated feel for the hands off the tee with a middle of the field approach. Recorded an 81 mph bat-exit velocity while hitting into a soft front side and ran a 7.42 60-yard dash. The primary shortstop displayed a low center of gravity with adequate footwork while mixing in a glove tap for rhythm. A solid first step allowed for range to both sides evidenced by a diving glove side play during defensive evaluations. Notched an accurate 73 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot. 

Nic Harris SS / RHP / Edmond Sante Fe, OK / 2023

Demonstrated feel for a long and lean 5-foot-11, 140-pound frame with projectability and room to add strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with a bent, open stance utilizing a repeatable lift and replace stride to initiate his swing. Sink into the lower half allowed for the barrel to enter the zone through a slightly uphill path, generating a gap to gap approach off the tee. Showed good feel for his hands, consistently finding barrels yielding a 73 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.52 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder displayed adequate footwork playing through the ball with regularity. A low center of gravity and quick first step created advantageous routes towards the target. Soft hands and easy transfers created accurate 76 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of both ¾ and high ¾ arm-slots.

Levi Haueter SS / RHP / Regent Preparatory, OK / 2020

Displayed a lean and athletic 6-foot, 160-pound frame with quick actions. The right-handed hitter begins with a balanced, open stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Showcased a short, quick barrel path through a slightly uphill angle at contact point. Sink into the lower half created backspin to the pull-side gap off the tee. Demonstrated feel for his hands with solid barrel awareness evidenced by an 82 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 6.88 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder played with a low center of gravity arriving to the ball on time with regularity. Soft hands and repeatable transfers generated accurate 75 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot. 

Grady James SS / 2B / Rejoice Christian, OK / 2021

Demonstrated advanced feel for a lean 5-foot-8, 160-pound frame with present athleticism and room to add strength. The right-handed hitter begins with an open, wide stance utilizing a knee-knock stride to initiate a flat barrel path into the hitting zone. Releases the barrel well through contact point in an easy, athletic swing generating advanced extension through the ball. Flexible lower half created barrel whip allowing for hard contact towards the middle of the field off the tee. Registered an 85 mph bat-exit velocity and recorded a 7.19 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder showed advanced footwork by taking advantageous routes yielding downhill momentum towards his target. Soft hands in front played through the ball and fluid transfers allowed for accurate 81 mph arm-strength from his position. 

Blake Lamb SS / RHP / Jenks , OK / 2023

Featured a lean, athletic 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame with room to add strength. The right-handed hitter begins with an open stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Showcased feel for his hands through a slightly uphill path with some length in the hitting zone. Registered an 88 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee with barrel whip through contact. Ran a 6.99 60-yard dash. The middle infielder demonstrated average footwork with a low center of gravity. Soft hands in front funneled into the body allowing for easy transfers and accurate throws of 72 mph across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot. 

Elijah Laus SS / 2B / Edmond North, OK / 2022

Showcased a proportionally lean 5-foot-7, 150-pound frame with feel for his body and room to fill out as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins in a balanced, even setup utilizing a lift-and-replace stride with stretch in the hands to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path through the ball. Fluid hips allow the barrel to stay in the hitting zone for a long time directionally. Registered an 82 mph bat-exit velocity with feel for his hands off the tee. Ran a 7.46 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder demonstrated advanced footwork arriving to spots early and playing through the ball with regularity. Soft hands played through the ball and gave when needed allowing for quick transfers and accurate 70 mph throws across the diamond out of a short, high ¾ arm-slot.

Miles Lock SS / 2B / Deer Creek, OK / 2022

Displayed a lean 5-foot-8, 146-pound frame with some twitch and room to fill out as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with an open stance with high hands utilizing a leg-lift to initiate his swing. Demonstrated violent hip rotation creating a slightly uphill barrel path in the hitting zone allowing for backspin to the pull-side gap. Showed advanced feel for the barrel off the tee, evidenced by an 86 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder featured a low center of gravity with adequate footwork. Soft hands played well out in front, but lacked explosiveness through the ball after fielding. Calculated straight line shuffles generated accurate 74 mph arm-strength across the infield out of a high ¾ arm-slot.

Garrett Long SS / OF / Adair, OK / 2021

Demonstrated a lean 6-foot, 170-pound frame with some physicality and athleticism in his movements. The left-handed hitter begins in a bent, open setup utilizing a knee-knock stride to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path into the zone. Showed some hip drift on swings, but displayed solid barrel whip through the hitting zone with ability to create backspin to the pull-side gap. Registered a 79 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee and recorded a 7.09 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder showcased advanced footwork consistently setting himself up for advantageous hops. Played through the baseball with soft hands in front and used a quick first step to flash above average range to both sides. Made the slow roller play look easy with the ability to throw from multiple arm angles. Notched an accurate 79 mph arm-strength out of a high ¾ arm-slot with a moderate takeaway. 

Logan Lunceford SS / RHP / Edmond Santa Fe, OK / 2022

Displayed a lean 6-foot, 155-pound frame with present athleticism in his actions and room to add strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with an open stance utilizing a leg-kick to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path through the hitting zone. Hands work easily from load to the ball creating a swing that should work against velocity. Showed the ability to be on time consistently, evidenced by an 84 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee. Ran a 7.44 60-yard dash. The middle infielder demonstrated advanced footwork arriving on time with regularity to the baseball. Played well through the ball with hands out in front and used a strong lower half to generate accurate 86 mph throws across the diamond out of a whippy, high ¾ arm-slot. 

Jonah Mahen SS / RHP / Crossing Christian, OK / 2021

Showcased a lean and twitchy 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame with present athleticism and room to add size and strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with an open stance utilizing a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Demonstrated sink into the lower half with solid hip drive allowing for consistent barrel awareness off the tee. Registered an 85 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee and ran a 6.77 60-yard dash flashing his athleticism. The primary shortstop featured a low center of gravity and quick first step that generated advantageous routes to the ball and range to both sides. Arrived on time with regularity to the baseball and used smooth transfers to record accurate throws of 83 mph across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot. 

Dawson Owens SS / 2B / Yukon , OK / 2022

Showcased a lean 5-foot-11, 140-pound frame with some athleticism in his actions and room to add strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter starts with a wide, even stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a slightly uphill barrel path through contact and generated backspin to both gaps. Registered a 79 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee and ran a 7.00 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder demonstrated adequate footwork arriving to the ball on time with regularity. A moderately low center of gravity could be improved by getting lower allowing for more fluidity and advanced range to both sides. Showed soft hands and the ability to field the baseball out in front. Notched an accurate 78 mph arm-strength from his position out of a high ¾ arm-slot. 

Zandt Payne SS / 3B / Deer Creek, OK / 2021

Demonstrated a lean and athletic 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with twitch and room to add strength as he matures. The switch hitter mirrors from both sides of the plate beginning with an open setup utilizing a leg-hang to initiate a short barrel path through a slightly uphill angle in the zone. Showcased advanced hand speed with a quick lower half generating hard line drives to both gaps off the tee. Registered an 86 mph bat-exit velocity and ran a 6.97 60-yard dash. The middle infielder showcased advanced footwork arriving on time and playing violently through the baseball. Created downhill momentum towards the target with smooth transfers allowing for accurate 84 mph arm-strength with carry across the diamond out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. 

Austin Place SS / 2B / Red Oak, OK / 2021

Showcased a lean 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame with present athleticism and flexibility in his movements. The right-handed hitter begins with a tall, open stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Showed feel for the barrel off the tee with a gap to gap approach while hitting into a stiff front side with late give. Registered an 85 mph bat-exit velocity and ran a 7.01 60-yard dash. The middle infielder demonstrated adequate footwork with a low setup while fielding but high center of gravity during throws. Moved well laterally and featured soft hands with give and push ability. Notched accurate throws of 78 mph from his position out of a ¾ arm-slot during defensive evaluations.

Jake Schow SS / 2B / Mustang , OK / 2020

Showcased a  physical 5-foot-8, 175-pound frame with strength in his actions. The right-handed hitter begins with a wide, even stance utilizing a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Displayed some barrel whip through a flat-barrel path into the hitting zone with sink into the lower half. Showed solid hand direction through the ball yielding an 80 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee. Ran a 7.44 60-yard dash. Demonstrated a low center of gravity with quick feet generating soft hands out in front with smooth transfers. Featured range to both sides with the ability to make the play on the run. Recorded an 81 mph arm-strength during defensive evaluations across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot. 

Ryan Stout RHP / SS / Oklahoma Christian School, OK / 2021

Showcased a long 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame with lean strength and athleticism in his frame. The right-handed hitter begins with a tall, slightly open stance utilizing stretch and advanced sink to yield a flat barrel path through the zone. Generated above average hand speed in the zone with a strong lower half. Displayed a mature approach with advanced feel for the barrel off the tee. Registered an impressive 90 mph bat-exit velocity and ran a 7.33 60-yard dash. The middle infielder showed fluid movements arriving to the ball on time with a low center of gravity creating momentum towards the target. Soft hands and smooth transfers allowed for accurate 84 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a whippy, high ¾ arm-slot.

Beau Temple OF / SS / Owasso, OK / 2021

Showcased a compact 5-foot-11, 178-pound frame with present strength in his actions. The right-handed hitter begins from an even, balanced stance utilizing a short lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Generated a flat barrel path through the hitting zone while hitting into a stiff front side with average hip rotation. Registered a 73 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee and ran a 7.93 60-yard dash.

Logan Towe SS / RHP / Mustang, OK / 2023

Demonstrated a compact 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame with room to add strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with a tall, slightly open stance utilizing a high hand setup and a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Generated a solid bat path through the hitting zone while entering with a flat angle. Hit into a stiff front side while registering an 84 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee. Recorded a 7.66 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder featured average footwork with soft hands in front and a quick release. A moderately low center of gravity allowed for positive steps towards the target after fielding and created an accurate 62 mph arm-strength out of a high ¾ arm-slot.
