The third annual Preseason All-State Showcase was held at The Grind sports facility in Oklahoma City, OK on Sunday, February 3rd.  This one day event featured a completely sold out event of 100 prospects in the 2019-2022 classes from around the state showcasing their skills in front of PBR staff. 

This talented event saw impressive numbers in every category, including 16 sub seven second 60s, eight 90+ exit velos, 10 arms that were 85+ across the infield (top 92), nine arms that were 85+ from the outfield (top 91), four sub two second pop times, and 10 pitchers that were 85+ (top 93)

Grayson Adams LHP / OF / Bethany, OK / 2021

A long, lean and projectable 6-foot-2, 165-pound frame. On the mound, the left-hander works from a deliberate delivery with rhythm and a moderate leg kick before gliding down the mound, finishing balanced. Arm action is long, fluid, clean, and loose in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball sat 79-81 and touched 82 mph with some downhill tilt, almost all strikes. Curveball has consistent 1/7 shape with depth in the bottom of the zone at 66-68 mph. Changeup shows fade and occasional sink at 74-75 mph. 

Dillon Bumgarner LHP / 1B / Calera, OK / 2020

A very lean 6-foot, 137-pound frame with lots of room to add size and strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from an average tempo delivery with a high leg kick, very short stride, and high front side as he travels down the mound. Arm action has moderate length in the back before coming through a ¾ slot with loose whippyness. Fastball sits 70-72 mph with consistent sink in the bottom of the zone, almost all strikes. Curveball shows soft and gradual 1/7 break, consistently in the strike zone at 60-61 mph. Changeup shows excellent fade in the strike zone at 65-66 mph. 

Chance Cox LHP / OF / Mustang , OK / 2021

A  6-foot-1, 165-pound lean and athletic frame with lots of room to add size and strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from an average tempo delivery with rhythm and an up-down-and around leg kick before gliding to the dish and finishing balanced. Arm action is long, loose, and fluid in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot with some easy arm speed. Fastball sits 80-83 mph flashing late arm-side run, some strikes. Slider shows 2/8 shape with some depth, thrown consistently for strikes at 60-63 mph. Changeup shows some fade with some strikes at 72-73 mph.

Roman Duren Jr. LHP / OF / Jones, OK / 2019

A  durable 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slightly up tempo delivery with a quick up-down-and out leg kick before driving down the mound with quality leg drive and finishing balanced.  Arm action is long and fast, making a big circle in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot with some arm speed. Fastball sits 75-77 mph with some arm-side run. Curveball shows 1/7 shape with consistent depth, thrown for strikes and as a chase pitch at 66-68 mph. Changeup has heavy arm-side run and fade at 72-73 mph, some strikes.

Caden Favors LHP / 1B / Carl Albert, OK / 2020

A  6-foot-2, 182-pound long frame with some wiry strength and room to add much more. On the mound, the left-hander works from a deliberate, controlled, and low effort delivery with a moderate leg kick before gliding down the mound. Arm action has moderate length in the back with a quick change of direction at the bottom of the arm stroke before coming through a near over the top slot with arm speed. Fastball keeps its plane at 80-82 mph, mostly strikes. Curveball has mostly 1/7 shape with late depth and some strikes at 70-71 mph. Changeup shows some fade and some strikes thrown with near fastball arm speed at 70-72 mph. 

Jared Gay LHP / 1B / Piedmont, OK / 2020

A  6-foot-1, 205-pound durable frame with strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slightly up tempo delivery with a moderate leg kick before gliding down the mound and finishing to the third base side. Arm action is long and clean in the back before coming through a near over the top slot with some arm speed. Fastball shows some downhill tilt at 80-82 mph, almost all strikes. Curveball has a big and late depth with near 12/6 shape at 67-70 mph, all strikes. Changeup shows consistent fade and some depth in the strike zone at 73-74 mph.

William Hoch 1B / LHP / Bishop McGuinness, OK / 2020

A  6-foot-1, 195-pound frame with some strength and room to add more. On the mound, the left-hander works from an average tempo delivery with rhythm and some coil at the top of a high leg kick before striding way down the mound with quality leg drive. Arm action is long and controlled in the back before coming through an over the top slot. Fastball shows some downhill tilt at 76-77 mph, almost all strikes. Curveball shows big 12/6 shape with some late depth at 63-64 mph commanded in the strike zone. Changeup shows some depth at 71-72 mph, mostly strikes.

Jackson Hodge LHP / OF / Bethany, OK / 2022

A  5-foot-8, 135-pound lean frame with lots of room to add size and strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from an average tempo delivery with a high controlled leg kick before sinking into his back side and gliding to the dish and finishing balanced. Arm action has moderate length in the back with a controlled and deliberate circle before coming through a ¾ slot with looseness. Fastball keeps its plane at 75-77 mph, almost all strikes. Curveball shows 2/8 slurvy shape with occasional depth at 65-66 mph, best as a chase pitch. Changeup is thrown with full arm speed at 68-70 mph, mostly strikes.

Max Huffling LHP / 1B / Deer Creek , OK / 2019

The Lamar JC commit has an impressive 6-foot-8, 240-pound frame with strength throughout. On the mound, the left-hander works from an average tempo and abbreviated delivery with his hands pumping over his head before using a high leg kick with a coil at the top and long stride down the mound. Arm action is long in the back with a stab behind his body and a wrist hook before coming through a high-¾ slot with arm speed. Fastball sits 84-86 mph with downhill tilt, almost all strikes. Splitter has depth to both the glove side and arm side, thrown at the bottom of the zone for strikes and as a chase pitch at 75-76 mph. 

 

 

Hayden Key LHP / OF / Epic Charter School, OK / 2020

A  5-foot-11, 175-pound lean frame with room to add size and strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from a simple and average tempo delivery with a moderate leg kick before driving down the mound. Arm action has moderate length in the back, getting up early before coming through a ¾ slot. Fastball shows occasional arm-side run at 82-84 mph, mostly strikes. Curveball has near 12/6 shape with consistent depth at 68-69 mph, almost all strikes. Changeup shows some fade at 74-75 mph, some strikes. Slider sits 74-75 mph with heavy cutter action.

Shea Morrison 1B / LHP / Harrah, OK / 2020

A  lean and projectable 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame with some strength and room to add more. On the mound, the left-hander works from an average tempo delivery with a moderate leg kick before gliding way down the mound and finishing balanced. Arm action is long, loose, and fluid in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot with ease. Fastball keeps its plane at 75-77 mph, mostly strikes. Slider has 2/8 shape with some late depth at 60-61 mph, all strikes. Changeup hits 68-69 mph with occasional sink.

Sloan Roller LHP / OF / Verdigris, OK / 2020

A  durable 6-foot-1, 220-pound frame. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slightly up tempo delivery with a slight pause at the top of his moderate leg kick before driving down the mound. Arm action has moderate length in the back with a quick change of direction at the bottom of his arm stroke before coming through a high-¾ slot with quickness and a recoil finish. Fastball shows consistent and late run at 73-76 mph. Curveball shows big near 12/6 shape at 65-66 mph at the bottom of the zone or as a chase pitch. Changeup shows consistent and late run with some sink at 64-65 mph, mostly strikes. 

 

 

David Salters LHP / OF / Christian Heritage Academy, OK / 2019

A  lean 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame with some wiry strength and room to add more. On the mound, the left-hander works from a controlled tempo delivery with a high leg kick and slight pause before striding down the mound and finishing balanced. Arm action has moderate length in the back, dropping straight down with a slight wrist hook before coming through a near over the top slot with arm speed. Fastball sits 79-81 mph with occasional late and heavy sink and some downhill tilt, mostly strikes. Curveball is advanced with 12/6 shape, tight spin, and late depth at 65-66 mph for strikes and as a chase pitch. Slider has 1/7 shape with heavy cutting action at 64-65 mph, pulled to the glove side.

 

Seth Stacey LHP / 1B / Tahlequah, OK / 2020

A  durable and broad shouldered 6-foot-1, 208-pound frame with strength throughout. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slightly up tempo delivery with moderate leg kick before driving down the mound and finishing balanced. Arm action short and quick in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot with arm speed. Fastball sits 82-84 mph with consistent late arm side run and sink, almost all strikes. Curveball is advanced with  late depth with 1/7 shape and tight spin at 73-74 mph. Changeup has late sink and fade thrown with full arm speed 71-73 mph, mostly strikes.

Will Taylor LHP / 1B / Kingfisher, OK / 2021

A  6-foot-1, 175-pound frame with some wiry strength and lots of room to add more. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slightly up tempo delivery with rhythm and moderate leg kick before striding down the mound with excellent leg drive and finishing balanced. Arm action has moderate length in the back with a quick change of direction at the bottom of his arm stroke before coming through a near over the top slot with arm speed. Fastball keeps its plane at 79-81 mph with some life, almost all strikes. Curveball shows 1/7 shape with consistent depth and thrown for consistent strike at 66-67 mph. Changeup is thrown with full arm speed at 72-73 mph and shows fade.

Reid Williams 1B / LHP / Bishop Kelley, OK / 2022

A  6-foot, 181-pound frame with some strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slightly up tempo delivery that he repeats well with rhythm and high leg kick before driving down the mound and finishing balanced. Arm action has length in the back with a quick change of direction at the bottom of his arm stroke through a high-¾ slot. Fastball shows some downhill tilt  at 72-74 mph, mostly strikes. Changeup is thrown with full arm speed with some fade and almost all strikes at 64-65 mph.
