OK Preseason Preview: Holland Hall

Oklahoma Staff

The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on Feb. 21 for A-B, and March 1 for 2A-6A. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2022 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

We’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2022 preseason coverage continues today.

Team: Holland Hall
2021 Record: 36-6
Classification: 4A
Head Coach: Parker Frazier
Years at the Helm: 3

OUTLOOK

Coach Frazier's Holland Hall squad stood atop the 4A group last year in 2021 winning the State Championship game 11-0 and scoring all 11 runs in the last two innings.  They played one of the tougher schedules in 4A last year with multiple non-district games against some of the better competition in Oklahoma and it paid off in May when the Dutch looked very comfortable in the moment.  The 2022 team will look to replace the big production of a couple of graduated players such as Wallace Clark, Noah Shepherd, and Marc Goulsdby.  The Dutch will look to reload with a couple of returning impact players off of last year's roster as well as a few younger guys that are talented enough to compete right away.  One of their main contributors to their success last season was their ability to defend at a high level and will look to continue to make that a key for their program with multiple guys on the roster showing advanced fielding abilities as well as mixing in a steady group of strike throwers on the mound.  If the younger players on the roster settle in early on and play up to their capabilities, look for the Dutch to have another big year as they reclassify into a tough 4A slate of oppenents in 2022.

Impact PLAYERS

Dax Miller, 2024, INF

The sophomore infielder will be counted on to take a larger role both in the lineup as well as manning one of the infield spots for the Dutch in 2022.  Miller has a lean and projectable build and shows good control of the barrel and a line drive approach especially to the opposite field side.  Defensively he has smooth actions and a feel for glove action.  Look for Miller to be counted on to help the offense put pressure on defenses as well as being a high contact on-base type contributor in the lineup.

Dax Miller (5/22/21)

Jacob Wrona, 2022, INF/RHP

Wrona returns to the lineup after a productive 2021 campaign where he manned the second base position as well as hitting in the middle of the order.  Wrona's season was highlighted by his performance in the State semi-final with a three RBI day as well as taking the ball on the mound to start.  Look for Wrona to continue to make impacts on both sides of the ball and help them return to making a deep run in the State Playoffs.

Jacob Wrona (10/31/21)

Kendyn Fredieu, 2022, OF

Fredieu returns to the lineup after spending the 2021 as the table-setting leadoff man for the Dutch and will look to bring his speed back in 2022 creating problems for opposing defenses.  Fredieu has a short and compact swing and has good barrel awareness that makes him a tough out especially with his speed.  Where Fredieu's impact might be felt most his elite defensive abilities in the outfield.  Fredieu makes highlight reel plays seem routine on a daily basis and look for him to continue bringing has game changing speed and helping the Dutch go for another title.

Josh Holt, 2022, RHP/1B, Washington University commit

Holt returns for his senior season after providing a big punch to both hitting in the middle of the order and starting on the mound.  Offensively Holt has the most power on the team and shows the ability to not only drive the ball deep into the games but also left the yard a few times last Spring.  On the mound Holt uses his low 80's fastball and feel for curveball and changeup to attack hitters and will miss bats at times.  The Washington University commit will continue to be relied upon to take the ball in those important district games as well as being a big run producer in the middle of the lineup.

Luke Beeler, 2025, C/1B

Beeler makes the list as a potential impact player for the Dutch as he brings a much-needed physical presence to the lineup even as a freshman.  Beeler has elite hand strength for the class and has shown the ability to drive the ball to all fields with true power potential.  Beeler also shows strong promise behind the plate with a feel for pitch framing as well as enough arm strength to handle varsity level speed.  Look for Beeler to continue to get better as he adds more games on his belt and has a chance to be one of the top guys in the 2025 class.

GUYS TO KEEP AN EYE ON

Kordell Gouldsby, 2024, INF/C

Owen Brown, 2022, RHP/INF

Holt Heldebrand, 2022, RHP/OF
