SEASON OUTLOOK

The 2018 Broken Arrow Tigers are one of the favorites to win the 6A state championship this year. The Tigers return all but one every day starter from a year ago along with three arm that tossed over 15 innings. All that from a group that made it to the state semi-finals. This year they will also add C/INF and power bat Manuel Duran into the mix. The Tigers will have no lack of senior leadership this year either as they have 7 seniors that contributed last year in a big way and six of whom have committed to play at the next level.

Offensively, the Tigers will have a very ballanced offence featuring six players that are not only going to put pressure on the defensive with speed, but also have pop in their bats. Because of the balanced athletes in the line up, there seem to be some options for Coach Dobson on how to construct it. No matter where they hit in the order, Mack Chambers, Drew Lowe, Tucker Dunlap, Kohl Franklin, and Matt Kaiser will all likely play big roles.

On the mound, the Tigers will be able to match up with most any staff. Leading the way will likely be Kohl Franklin, who was up to 91 at the Super 60 procase and also posses a plus changeup. Trey Wolf will also pound the strike zone with an upper 80s fastball. Brett Biggs will likely round out the front line with deceptiveness and a breaking ball he can throw in most counts.

Defensively, the Tigers will look to out do their impressive .966 fielding mark from a year ago. Dunlap will control the game from behind the plate. Chambers will spend most of the innings at short and Franklin will log time on both sides of him making for a sure handed infield duo. The Tigers will likely let few balls drop in the outfield this year as they will have Lowe, Kaiser, and Ivy patrolling the grass, all with advanced speed.
