Today we're taking an in-depth look at some of the top changeup metrics at the Oklahoma Top Senior Games showcase from data collected from the Trackman.  As technology continues to improve, we are learning more and more about what makes each pitch unique and effective to each individual pitcher.

The firmest changeups at the event belonged to Cade Erickson (76.6 mph) and Colyn McNair (76.28 mph).  Erickson also led the way with average horizontal break at 12.7 inches and Jayden Krajnik at 11.3 inches.  Research tells us pitcher's start to get more swing and miss on their change ups when their horizontal break is at 8 inches or higher.  The average induced vertical break leader was Alejandro Serna with an average of 16.4 inches and Will Kates following him at 11.9 inches.  

It is worth mentioning that the changeup plays primarily off of the fastball.  Therefore, using these metrics such as velocity, horizontal break, and vertical break and comparing them to each individual's own fastball will give a better understanding of how effective each changeup might be.
