Monday nights are always good for a few pitcher’s duels, but this one was something special. Dalen Hall was able to go the extra distance and outlast Rhett Kouba. Hall threw a complete game shutout through nine innings on 109 pitches, allowing just three hits, one walk, and striking out a staggering 18 batters. Kouba  matched Hall pitch for pitch until he exited the game after the eighth. Kouba did not allow a run, giving up only one hit, and struck out 12. It was Sebastien Nelson who eventually delivered the walk-off RBI single to center field for the Tigers.

The bat of Connors State signee Dylan Hight was the difference in this one. Hight went 2-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI, three runs scored, and an HBP. Hunter Hutchison also contributed with a two run home run. Kale Schneider was solid in his five inning start, spreading out eight hits, allowing just one run, walking three, and striking out five for the Cards. For Cascia Hall, leading the way with three hits a piece were Scott Torkelson and Jackson Wagner.

Hutchinson CC commit Riley Metzger had a career day for the Pioneers. At the dish, Metzger went 3-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI’s and a walk.  On the mound, the right-hander went six strong shutout innings, surrendering just three hits, one walk, and striking out seven.  Metzger also posted two more home runs in the other game of the double header.  Oklahoma State signee Ryan Vilade also had a productive day at the plate going 2-for-5 in this one with a double, triple, run scored, and RBI.

Freshman outfielder Jace Bohrofen was the story in this one.  The left-handed hitter was 3-for-3 with three home runs and five RBI’s. His third home run ended the game in sixth.  Jacob Schultz was dominant on the mound, tossing a six inning shutout, giving up three hit, one walk, and striking out nine.
