One of the biggest tournaments of the year took place in Jupiter, Florida on Oct. 20-24. Several Oklahoma players were in attendance and stood out. Below are the accounts from PBR Executive Director Sean Duncan and other PBR staff members who were in Florida. All players list are in the 2017 class.

Dylan Gardner, MIF/OF, Stillwater HS
The Hutchinson CC recruit is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound left-handed hitter. Athletic player, plays multiple positions. Offensively, has loose, athletic hands. Good ball to bat skills, doesn’t swing and miss much, barreled a double to dead center field, produced an 89 mph exit velo. Can really run. 4.30 on a groundout; 3.85 on a drag bunt.

Hal Hughes, MIF, Norman North HS
The Louisiana State recruit stands at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds. One of the best defensive infielders throughout the four day event. Extremely confident and fluid in everything he does. Athletic arm action, ability to throw from multiple angles, plenty of arm to stick on the left side, plus transfer, advanced internal clock, plays extremely well on the move. He made plays at short, third and second, so he can play any three with ease, it seems. Take charge attitude, natural field general. Offensively, a handsy, inside-out approach. He sliced an 88 mph fastball the other way against the Twins Scout Team and had two hits (both to right side) and RBI. Produced an exit velo of 84 mph.

Zack Matthews, RHP, Wellston HS
The sturdily built 6-foot-1, 210-pound Oklahoma recruit pounded the strike zone early, throwing 16 of his first 20 pitches for strikes through the first two innings. He held his 90-91 fastball velocity throughout his four-inning stint, while shuffling in an effective 77-78 mph slider with late bite for strikes, and got a pair of strikeouts throwing it in on right-handed hitters. In four innings, he struck out four, walked two and yielded two runs and five hits.

 Riley Metzger, OF, Stillwater HS
An athletic 5-foot-10, 180-pound left-handed hitter committed to Hutchinson CC. Runs well. Aggressive approach, tendency to chase pitches at times, simple load, replaces stride foot, looseness in swing. Produced a 90 mph exit velo. Defensively, showed a good arm with carry.

Alex Peterson, OF, Edmond North HS
A Cowley College commit, 5-foot-11, 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. Wiry-thin athlete. Started in center field and hit leadoff. Highly competitive at-bats, works counts, knack for finding the barrel. A fluid athlete, in the first game he walked twice and squared a ball to center field. He also singled, stole a base and barreled one to the left fielder in another game producing and 91 mph exit velo. Runs well. 4.15 on a bunt; 4.35 on an infield single. Defensively, a good center fielder with instincts.

Roman Phansalkar, RHP, Heritage Hall HS
An Arizona recruit, 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame, long, loose, and athletic with room to add size and strength. Works from a 3/4 arm slot, abbreviated stride, consistently repeats delivery. Arm action is free, easy, and whippy out front. Fastball was 88-91 mph with slight arm-side run, just short of the 92 mph he has touched previously. Slider showed a high spin rate of 2900 with big depth at 78-80 mph.

Kaden Polcovich,MIF, Deer Creek HS
A 5-foot-10, 180-pound, strong build with athleticism, which shows in his ability to run (4.35 home-to-first), has bat speed (95 exit velo). Offensively, an aggressive swinger in the box who doesn’t get cheated. Polcovich posses a short, connected swing from both sides that will definitely play at the next level, though he did not have his best offensive production in Jupiter. Defensively, he may project best as a very athletic and offensive second baseman.

 Levi Prater, LHP, Byng HS
The Oklahoma commit has a wiry 6-foot, 175-pound fame. Prater works slightly across his body, loose arm action, high-3/4 slot, deep takeaway, longer in the back, drop-and-drive guy, will change slots occasionally. Fastball sat 84-87 in Jupiter (though he has been up to 89), flashes occasional arm-side run. Curveball sits 70 mph, early break, 12/6 shape.

Foster Roy, LHP, Metro Christian Academy
A 6-foot-2, 180- pound athletic frame, built the mound. Foster works from a high-3/4 slot, simple repeatable delivery, stays tall, works downhill, longer athletic arm action. Fastball sits 85-86mph and keeps its plane. Uses the curveball frequently against left-handed hitter, 67-72 mph, flashes good depth.

Kenny Yetter, C, Deer Creek HS
A New Orleans commit with a 6-foot-1, 200-pound middle linebacker build, muscular. Strong hands, average bat speed, balance. Roped a double, blooped a single, squared up a few others. Overall, showed he could really handle the bat. A 4.70 runner. Defensively, long over the top slot, stiff, effort, under and behind the baseball. Though he could stay behind the dish, Yetter might project at first base at the next level.
