PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The eighth PBR Player Of The Week goes to Hunter Bowers. Bowers is a sophomore RHP/UTL for Crescent who had an incredible week of post season play. Offensively, Bowers batted .900 (9-for-10) in three games with two doubles, a home run, seven RBI’s, and five runs scored. On the mound, the right-hander threw five innings, surrendering one run on two hits, two walks, and striking out eight. Bowers is currently ranked No. 66 in Oklahoma’s 2019 Class.

(6A) Brett Rexroad, a Rose State commit and RHP/1B for Mustang, completed his two year district undefeated  streak on the mound with a complete game 2-1 victory. The long right-hander showed his typical advanced control as he allowed just three hits and one walked and struck out 10. Currently ranked No.119 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

(5A) Michelle Artzberger, an uncommitted sophomore LHP/1B for MacArthur, was terrific on the mound again this week. The left-hander tossed another complete game shutout, surrendering just three hits and two walks while striking out eight against a good Carl Albert offence. Artzberger has allowed only one run in his last 30 innings of work.

(4A) Cade Stephens, an Arkansas Little Rock commit and C for Blanchard, put up impressive power numbers last week. The left-handed hitter batted .583 (7-for-13) with four home runs, two doubles, and 11 RBI’s. The No. 36 ranked player in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class has tied the single season home run record for Blanchard at 17.

(3A) Jonathan Escabedo, an uncommitted senior C for Marietta, ha another outstanding offensive week. Escabedo only recorded one out on the week (a line drive to 3B) as he batted .800 with two doubles, a triple, an RBI, four runs scored, and four stolen bases.

(A)Stanton James, an uncommitted senior C for  the Amber- Pocasset Panthers, batted .600 (6-for-10) in three regional games with two doubles, six RBI’s, and two walks. James was also excellent defensively; throwing out 2-of-3 would be base stealers.

(B) Chase Murley, from  Arapaho-Butler, posted strong numbers in regional play, helping to push his squad into the state tournament.  Murley batted .556 (5-for-9) with two doubles and three RBI’s. 

Honorable Mentions

Brayden Alberson, an unsigned senior SS/RHP for Yukon, threw another solid game last week. The right-hander went six scoreless inning, allowing just three hits while striking out eight.

Bryce Allen, a sophomore SS for Perry, was a two-way start for the Maroons in their district series. The 6-foot-1, 150-pound athlete batted .400 and threw a two hit, complete game, shutout  in game three of the series keep Perry’s season alive and move them to the next round.

Tyler Burch, an uncommitted junior 2B for Catoosa, posted an impressive batting average last week. The 5-foor-9, 165 pound hitter swatted .750 (9-for-12) with four RBI’s, six runs scored, and three walks.

Chris Campos, an uncommitted senior arm for Marietta, went eight innings, allowing only two earned runs while striking out 11 and only walking one.

Dylan Collateta, a Purcell senior committed to play football in college, batted .615 (8-for-13 in three games, swatting a home run, two doubles, and seven RBI’s.

Noah Ellis, a senior 3B for Piedmont, was very productive at the plate last week, batted .667 (8-for-12) with two doubles, a triple, nine RBI’s, nine runs scored, and earned two free passes. Ellis’ OBP was .750.

Cross Factor, a Cowley College commit and OF/3B for Yukon, hit .500 (5-for-10) last week with four RBI’s, six runs scored, and worked tree free passes. Currently, Factor is ranked No. 49 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

Brandon Fogle, a junior OF for Caney Valley, hit .500 (6-for-12) in four games with three RBI’s, eight runs scored, and three walks.

Ashton Francis, an NOC Tonkawa commit and OF for Edmond Memorial, batter a blistering .750 (6-for-8) in two games last week with a home run, a double, and five RBI’s. Currently ranked No.96  in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

Josh Garrett, a junior RHP/INF for Regent Prep, had another solid offensive week batting 0.438 (7-for-16) with a home run and 10 RBI’s in post season play.

Hunter Gholston, an uncommitted junior SS for Elk City, recorded five triples in just two games last week. Gholdston is currently ranked No. 73  in Oklahoma’s 2018 Class. 

Hunter Hines, an uncommitted senior LHP/1B for Caney Valley, was strong on both sides of the ball in four games last week. At the plate, Hines batted .454 (5-for-11) with a double, triple, five RBI’s, four runs scored, and five walks. On the mound, the left-hander tossed eight innings for Caney Valley, allowing just one run on six hits, two walks, and struck out 12. These numbers include a complete game one hit performance to clinch the district.

DeClaudio Irvin, a junior Arkansas Little Rock recruit and SS for Midwest City, hit .417 (5-for-12) in four games last week with three doubles, one triple, five runs scored, and two stolen bases. Currently ranked No. 17  in Oklahoma’s 2018 Class.

Colton James, an unsigned senior 3B/2B for Edmond North, hit .636 (7-for-11) from the right side  in four games last week with three doubles, four runs scored, two RBI’s, and a walk.

Josh Jetton, an uncommitted junior RHP/SS for Little Axe, stood out at the plate and on the mound in three games last week, including district playoffs.  At the plate, the 5-foot-9, 170-pound athlete hit .400, including an OBP of .667 in nine plate appearances.  On the mound, Jetton threw a combined 9 innings, giving up only four earned runs, and striking out nine.

 

Gaven Keith, an uncommitted senior RHP/3B for Caney Valley, was a standout two-way player last week. Keith batted .500 going (6-for-12) with two doubles, a home run, six RBI’s, four runs scored, and two walks. On the mound, the right-hander tossed 7.1 innings, giving up just two runs on five hits, two walks, and struck out nine.  

Payton Miller, a sophomore committed to Oklahoma and a C for Yukon, hit .625 (5-for-8) with five RBI’s and earned two free passes last week. Miller is currently ranked No.5  in Oklahoma’s 2019 Class.

Kenan Millspaugh, an uncommitted SS for  Cache, put up outstanding numbers at the dish and on the mound last week. Offensively, Millspaugh hit .692 with two doubles, a triple, five RBI’s, eight runs scored, two walks, and a stolen base. On the mound, the right-hander came on in relief down 4-3 and tossed four scoreless innings to allow Cache to come back and win 5-4. Milspaugh gave up just two hits and struck out two .

Jake Pearson, a Murray St. JC commit  and OF/RHP for Harrah, put up big two-way numbers last week. Pearson batted .600 (6-10) with a home run, four RBI’s, and six runs scored. On the mound, the right-hander tossed a six inning complete game to earn a win and bring his record to 6-1 on the season. Pearson is currently ranked No.90 in Oklahoma’s 2017 Class.

Koby Penny, an arm for Claremore, tossed 4.1 innings in relive and allowed hit team to come back from a 7-0 deficit, earning him the win. Penny only surrendered three hits and two walks in his outing.

Harrison Thornton, an uncommitted senior two-way player from Putnam City West, put up solid numbers on the mound and from the dish last week. Offensively, Thornton hit .444 with an OBP of .545. With the ball in his hand, Thornton tosses four scoreless innings with an impressive seven punch outs.

Ethan Schlabach, an unsigned senior 3B/RHP for Edmond Santa Fe, had a game to remember last Monday. Schlabach tossed a complete game shutout thanks to commanding the zone and fielding his position well. Schlabach also had a double and  the game’s only RBI in the 1-0 victory.     

Hunter Thrasher, an unsigned senior RHP/INF for Harrah, was a weapon on the mound and at the dish in the Bi-District Tournament last week. Offensively, Thrasher hit .625 with a home run, double, five runs scored, and six RBI’s. On the mound he hurled four innings to earn a win, now 8-0 on the year.

Charlie Wirtz, a junior LHP/OF for Perry, did damage on both ends of the ball for Perry last week. Offensively, the 5-foot-11, 140-pound right-handed hitter batted .300 with two RBI’s. On the mound, Wirtz struck out five in a complete game, one hit, shutout. Currently ranked No. 87 in Oklahoma’s 2018 Class.

Garrett Wood, an uncommitted junior SS for Claremore, batted .429 (3-for-7) in two games  last week with a double, home run, four RBI’s, four runs scored, and a walk.
