PBR OK Player of the Week: RHP/3B Dylan McDonald

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The third PBR Oklahoma Player of the Week will be awarded to Dylan McDonald. McDonald is an uncommitted senior 3B/RHP for the Elgin Owls, ranked No.184 in Oklahoma’s 2017 class. The 6-foot-185-pound right-hander put up career numbers on the mound and at the dish last week. Offensively, batted .733 (11-for-15) including a double, triple, home run, 10 RBI’s, and five runs scored. From the bump, McDonald twirled a five inning run-rule shorted no-hitter, striking out eight.

(6A) Dan Pruitt, an Oklahoma commit and No.25 in Oklahoma’s 2017 class for Putnam City, was another standout two-way player this week. On the mound, Pruitt threw a no-hitter with 12 punch outs and only one walk, facing the minimum 21 batters in a closely contested 2-0 win. At the plate, the right-handed hitter went 6-for-12 with two doubles, three RBI’s, and two stolen bases.

(5A) In a highly competitive class this week, it was Dakota Finley, an uncommitted senior third baseman for Durant, who takes the proverbial cake. In only three games this week, Finley went hit .700 (7-for-10) with four home runs, two doubles, three walks, seven runs scored, and 10 RBI’s.

(3A) Collin Long, an uncommitted junior second baseman for Little Axe, had a solid offensive week facing some good arms in the Little Axe Tournament. The 5-foot-7, 140-pound team captain hit .667 (8-for-12) on the week.

(2A)Triston Graves, a senior Southern Nazarene commit for Crossings Christian School.  On the mound, the 6-foot, 150-pound  right-hander had two complete game wins for the Knights.  In the first game against Community Christian, Graves threw 5 innings, posted eight punch outs, and only surrendered one run in the run-rule shorted 9-1 win.  Later in the week, he threw a complete game two hit shutout with 10 strikeouts. 

(B) Dawson Brooks, a freshman third baseman for Duke HS, posted a blistering .750 (6-for-8) average last week with two doubles and six RBI’s.


Honorable Mentions

Blake Adams, and uncommitted junior SS/RHP for Heritage Hall, hit .417 on the week with a home run  and seven RBI’s. Adams also pitched 6.2  perfect innings en route to complete game shutout with eight strikeouts Adams is ranked No.19 in Oklahoma’s 2018 class.

Brayden Alberson, an uncommitted senior and SS/RHP for Yukon ranked No.162 in Oklahoma’s 2017 class, was solid on the mound this week. Alberson hurled nine innings, giving up just four hits, walking two, and striking out 10, while earning a win for the Millers.

Brady Brim, a senior Oklahoma Wesleyan signee and OF/RHP for Claremore, hit .600 (9-for-15) with three doubles, two triples, a home run, three walks, eight runs scored, and 14 RBI’s.

Casey Cooper, a senior Redlands CC commit for Moore, started to perfect his home run trot this week after hitting four in just three games. The 3B/C was 6-for-10 with nine RBI’s overall. Cooper is ranked No.157 in Oklahoma’s 2017 class.  

Eli Davis, a senior Kansas university signee and OF/LHP for undefeated Shawnee, did his damage at the plate this week. The No.8 ranked player in Oklahoma’s 2017 class batted .615 (8-for-13) with three home runs, a triple, a double, three walks, nine runs scored, and 10 RBI’s.

Marshall Davis, an uncommitted senior for Arapaho-Butler, hit .538 (7-for-13) with a home run, two doubles, a triple, and four RBI’s. Of the four RBI’s for the 6-foot, 200-pound INF/RHP, two came in the finals of the tournament for Duke and the other two produced the only runs of a 2-0 win in the semi’s. Davis was also the winning pitcher of the championship game.

Will Fairlie, an uncommitted senior outfielder for Crossings Christian School, hit .523 (11-for-21) last week with four doubles, a triple, eight RBI’s, and seven stolen bases.

Colton Lewis, an uncommitted junior SS/RHP for Caney Valley, produced at the plate and on the mound last week. Offensively, Lewis batted .667 (6-for-9) with two triples, a double, four runs scored, and four RBI's. On the mound, he stuck out five and walked one in two innings of work.  

Jake Pearson, a senior Murray St. CC signee and SS/RHP for Harrah, hit .500 (6-for-12) with two home runs, a double, eight runs scored, and four RBI’s. On the mound, Pearson threw a complete game shutout. Pearson is ranked No. 90 in Oklahoma’s 2017 class.

Kade Self, a junior Arkansas-Little Rock commit and 3B/C for undefeated Shawnee, hit .636 (7-for-11) with four doubles, a triple, four RBI’s, five runs scored, and four walks last week. Self is ranked No.9 in Oklahoma’s 2018 class.

Seth Sims, an uncommitted outfielder ranked No.95 in Oklahoma’s 2018 class for Woodward, hit 0.714 (5-for-7) in four games last week with a home run, double, four RBI’s, five runs scored, four walk, and two HBP. 

Tanner Sparks, a senior Oklahoma State signee and SS/RHP for undefeated Shawnee, put up gaudy numbers for the third week in a row. At the plate, Sparks hit .666 (8-for-12) with three home runs, a triple, two walks, eight runs scored, and 12 RBI’s. The No.11 ranked player in Oklahoma’s 2017 class also threw seven innings, giving up seven hit, two runs, and punched out five, earning a win.

Blake Scott, a freshman catcher for Tonkawa, hit .412 (7-for-17)  last week with three home runs, eight walks, and 13 RBI's.  

Jake Taylor, a senior Oklahoma State signee and C/RHP for undefeated Shawnee, hit .642 (9-for-14) including a home run, three doubles, three walks, eight runs scored, and five RBI’s. From the bump, Taylor threw three innings, gave up one hit, no runs, walked one, and struck out five in to appearances. Taylor is ranked No. 4 in Oklahoma’s 2017 class.

Hunter Thrasher, and uncommitted senior 3B/RHP for Harrah, hit .667 (10-for-15) with a double, triple, and five RBI’s. Thrasher also earned a win on the mound, throwing a complete game, giving up only one earned run.

Bryson Vanover, an uncommitted senior for Claremore, was the definition of productive at the plate for the Zebras this week. Vanover hit a cool 0.788 (11-for-14) with three doubles, a home run, six runs scored, three walks, and an impressive 15 RBI’s in five games.

Garrett Wood, and uncommitted junior SS for Claremore, hit .700 (7-for-10) with two doubles, eight walks, 14 runs scored, and seven RBI’s.
