PBR OK Player of the Week: Week Two

Scott Hood
OK/MO/KS/ARK Assistant Scouting Director

Bauer Brittain did just about everything for Shawnee last week against Glenpool where he finished off a 7-inning no-hitter picking up ten strikeouts along the way.  Glenpool was able to get the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th, but Brittain punched out the final hitter securing the 1-0 victory.  He also went 3-4 at the plate with a triple including driving in the Wolves only run as well.  The Senior OU commit has shown swing and miss stuff in the past with his upper 80's to low 90's fastball as well as feel for a sharp mid 70's slider that really gives right-handed hitters trouble.

Throughout the year we will be highlighting players who have had the best weeks as our Player of the Week and welcome all recommendations from all levels.  Please include a stat line for the week and overall season stats as well.

Scouting Report

5/29/18
An advanced 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame with some strength and length. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a balanced, even, and athletic set-up with his barrel tilted towards the pitcher. Uses quick reverse toe-tap load before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path through extension, some length. In BP, shows a middle of the field approach with some lift, found a few barrels, 75 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.29 60. Defensively, shows athletic actions in the outfield, charging the ball well and showing sure hands. Throws from a ¾ slot with elite arm speed for his age, 84 mph with accuracy. Also athletic enough to play the infield as well. On the mound, the right-hander works from a controlled delivery with a high leg kick and a slight pause before driving down the mound and pitching through his front side. Arm action is long and fluid in the back, coming through a high-¾ slot with arm speed. Fastball sits 82-86 mph with heavy arm-side run. Changeup has slight fade at 69-70 mph. Slider is still developing 65-66 mph.
