PBR Upgrade Sandlot All American Showcase: In-Depth Analysis

On May 20-21, The Sandlot All American organization hosted a showcase at Broken Arrow High School for all of it's 170 players from across the state. In teaming up with PBR Oklahoma, they allowed those that chose to upgrade the ability to get full PBR profiles. The following is an in-depth analysis of each of the 27 upgraded players. Their video can be seen with a PBR Plus subscription as well.

Jake Adams RHP / OF / Bethany , OK / 2018

A 6-foot-3, 190-pound long and athletic frame with some strength for this two-way player who really shines on the mound. The right-hander works from a slightly up-tempo delivery with rhythm, high-leg kick, and glides to the dish under control. The arm action is long and loose with a full arm-circle and fast out front with some effort from a high-3/4 slot. The fastball jumps out of Adams' hand with some downhill tilt, 86-87 mph. Slider flashes some late and sharp action with 11/5 shape, backs up at times, 72-78 mph. Changeup shows some fade 78-79 mph. With his athleticism, frame, and arm speed, Adams is a talented prospect on the mound that will only get better as he continues to dial in his command and consistency. At the dish, the right-handed hitter uses a moderate knee-knock leg kick to launch his hands on a flat path. Stayed in the pull gap with some carry in BP, barreling most balls. Posted an exit velo of 83. In the outfield, shows athletic, confident actions. Runs through throws, some accuracy, 83 mph. Runs a 7.34 60.

 

 

Jordan Blom RHP / OF / NOAH Home School, OK / 2018

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound lean framed right-hander works from a deliberate windup until foot-strike. Fastball keeps its plane at 81-84 mph with some deception coming from behind his head. Blom posses multiple breaking balls, but seems to favor the slider which has 11/5 shape when down in the zone 70-72 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape 67-68 mph. Cutter flashes some late action 80-81 mph.  

 

Karsten Boudreau RHP / Union , OK / 2018

A 6-foot, 175-pound frame with some strength in the lower half. Boudreau works from an average tempo delivery with a clean arm action coming through an over the top slot. Fastball keeps its plane, sitting 76-78 and reaching 80 mph. Curveball shows 12/6 shape with depth and gradual break, 68-70 mph. Changeup is thrown with full arm speed and has some deception, 69-70 mph.  

 

 

Scooter Carter 2B / SS / Gore, OK / 2017

A 5-foot-7, 165-pound durable frame with some strength. On the infield, shows clean footwork, putting himself in the right position to make all plays, hands are soft and  consistent with good action, throws from a side arm slot with accuracy, 74 mph. Shows the ability to defend at the next level. Offensively, the right-handed hitter uses a moderate knee-knock load for timing. Bat path is flat through the zone and swing is under control. Hit the ball to all fields in BP, 79 mph exit velo.  

 

KEVIN COLLYARSS / 2B / OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, OK / 2018

A quick-twitch athlete with a power packed 5-foot-8, 170-pound frame. Runs a 7.79 60. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a balanced athletic set-up with rhythm. Simple load, short stride, path is short and flat through the zone with a high finish. Produced one of the better rounds of BP of the day with a line drive, middle of the field approach, showing strength and some pop. Defensively, shows quick feet, above average hands, and  aggressive actions with an over the top arm slot, some accuracy 76 mph.  

 

Jaxson Crull OF / LHP / Bixby, OK / 2020

The 5-foot-11, 155-pound athlete has a lean frame with plenty of room to continue to add size and strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter uses a balanced set-up with a slight crouch before using a slight leg kick for timing. Slight arm-bar load followed by a flat path through the zone and good extension. Barreled most balls in BP, spraying the ball to all fields, 76 mph exit velo. In the outfield, Crull shows athletic, confident, and aggressive actions, changing the ball well. Throws from an over the top slot with some stiffness with advanced arm strength for his age, 79 mph with accuracy. On the mound, the left-hander pitches from an average tempo delivery with a long arm action behind him that shortens up and comes from behind his head through an over the top slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 74-76 mph. Curveball ranges 64-68 mph with 12/6 shape, hangs at times. Changeup shows some fade, 67-68. Crull is a quick twitch athlete that will see his 7.15 60 time rise along with his other measurables in the near future.  

 

 

James Dunlap SS / RHP / Bishop Kelley, OK / 2019

A 6-foot-1, 163-pound proportional frame. Dunlap is currently a skilled two-way player that may have a slightly higher ceiling on the mound. The right-hander pitches with a simple, average tempo, repeatable delivery. Arm action is clean and consistent from an over the top slot with some looseness. Fastball keeps its plane at 81-83 mph, controlled in the zone. Curveball shows 12/6 shape with gradual break, 61-62. Changeup sits 71-72 with slight fade. Slider is still developing.  Offensively, the right-handed hitter uses an upright, slightly back-leg heave set-up. An average stride is followed by a flat bat path with some length. Had an all-fields line drive approach in BP, barreling most balls, 80 mph exit velo. On the infield, Dunlap shows off his arm, 82 across the diamond, with advanced accuracy. Fields with a bouncy athleticism and showing good lateral movement. Runs a 7.20 60.    

 

 

Jake English C / 3B / Moore, OK / 2020

A 6-foot-2, 170-pound advanced frame for his age. Offensively, the right-handed hitter swings from a balanced upright stance, smooth load, and long stride. Bath path is flat and has length. Showed a pull approach in BP with some lift, exit velo of 74 mph. Behind the plate, shows soft hands, consistently clean transfers, and good foot work that will get quicker as he continues to develop physically. Pop times of 2.15-2.2 with a velo of 69 mph from an over the top slot with some accuracy. On the mound, the right-hander pitches from an average tempo delivery with an over the top slot and some stiffness. Fastball keeps its plane at 70-71 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, 57-64 mph. Changeup ranges 54-57 mph. Runs a 7.75 60.

 

 

Colby Entwistle C / SS / Edmond North, OK / 2020

A physically advanced youngster with a 6-foot-2, 175-pound lean frame and wiry strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows an improved swing with balanced and athletic set-up and rhythm in his hands. Uses a slight hanging leg kick for timing before launching his quick hands. Showed a pull gap approach in BP with some lift and pop, barreling most balls. Defensively, shows good hands and consistent clean footwork. Arm is strong, 77 mph and 1.98-2.12 pop, from a bit lower than the traditional catcher's slot. Runs a 7.20 60. 

 

 

Brenden Fitzhugh 3B / SS / Deer Creek, OK / 2019

A proportional 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a balanced and relaxed set-up. Uses a smooth load, slight leg kick, is short to the ball with a flat path. Fitzhugh had a solid round of BP, barreling line drives to all fields. Exit velo of 76 mph. Defensively, shows average actions with good hands, 70 mph across the diamond. Runs a 7.59 60.   

 

 

Cooper Fitzhugh OF / Deer creek, OK / 2019

A 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from an upright and relaxed stance, early arm-bar load with a knee-knock leg and long stride. Barreled some balls to the middle of the field, 69 mph exit velo. In the outfield, shows quick aggressive actions, some stiffness in the throw, 75 mph with some accuracy. Runs a 7.57 60.

 

 

Jared Gay LHP / 1B / Piedmont, OK / 2020

A 6-foot-1, 205-pound frame with some strength throughout. Offensively, the left-handed hitter uses a balanced set-up, simple load and stride, and flat path through the zone. Shows a middle of the field, line drive approach with some pull on the ground. Exit velo of 85 mph. At first base, shows average hands with deliberate actions and accuracy, 76 mph across the diamond. On the mound, the left-hander uses a controlled delivery and an over the top slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 75-76 mph, but can touch 78. Curveball has gradual 12/6 action, 67-71 mph. Changeup shows some fade, 67-68 mph. 

 

 

Kenlee Hall RHP / 3B / Collinsville , OK / 2019

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound right-hander has a durable frame with some strength. On the mound, Hall uses a smooth delivery with rhythm and a drop and drive lower half, while showing off multiple arm slots. Fastball is thrown from up top and the side, ranging 74-79 mph, keeping its plane with four seam spin up top, and showing some arm side run and sink from the side. Changeup sits 60-62 mph and matches the fastball action from each slot. Curveball from over the top has 12/6 action and shows gradual depth, 61-63 mph. Slider from the side has 10/4 shape at 70-71 mph. 

 

 

Tanner Hamilton C / RHP / Mannford , OK / 2020

A 5-foot-10, 200-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a relaxed and upright set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a knee-knock load and a short stride, and flat path. Barreled some balls in BP with a flat, middle opposite field approach. Exit velo of 75 mph. Behind the dish, sits high in the crouch, shows clean exchanges, and a 3/4 arm slot. Pop time of 2.27-2.31 with a velo of 67 mph. On the mound, uses an average tempo delivery and a 3/4 arm slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 68-70 mph. Curveball shows 12/6 shape, 57-60 mph. Changeup has some fade, 58-60 mph.  

 

 

Cole Hill SS / RHP / Rejoice Christian School, OK / 2020

Power packed for his age and stature, Hill stands at a lean 5-foot-6, 140-pounds. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an athletic and balanced set-up with good rhythm. Uses an early reverse toe tap for timing, slight arm-bar load, shows quick hands and a flat path. Barreled some balls to the middle of the field, exit velo of 84 mph. Defensively, Hill shines, with well above average hands and feet, quick twitch actions, and confidence. Posses a quick arm with the ability to throw from multiple slots with accuracy, up to 78 mph across the diamond. Runs a 7.37 60. On the mound, uses an average tempo delivery with some stiffness and a quick arm from an over the top slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 76-78 mph. Changeup show some fade, 66-67 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, 62-66 mph. 

 

 

Max Huffling LHP / 1B / Deer Creek , OK / 2019

Physically advanced, Huffling towers at 6-foot-8, 215-pounds. On the mound, the left-hander pitches from a controlled delivery, reaching back towards third, locking his arm out, hooking his wrist, and bending at the waist before coming through a just above side arm slot. Fastball shows lots of run and some sink, 76-80 mph. Slider has 2/8 shape, flashes tight spin, 72-73 mph. Changeup has arm side run, 60-62 mph.  Has some feel for the strike zone that will continue to develop. Offensively, starts from a front foot heavy, wide set-up from the right-side. Uses a high knee-knock leg kick for timing and arm-bar load. Swing path is flat with some bat speed. Used a middle to opposite field approach in BP, 83 mph exit velo. Shows deliberate actions at first base with average hands, 74 across the diamond with lots of run. Runs a 7.72 60.

 

 

Jaret Johnson C / OF / Stillwater, OK / 2020

A 5-foot-9, 155-pound developing frame. The right-handed hitter uses an upright set-up, high, hanging let kick, and a long stride with an arm-bar load for timing and separation. Swing is up-hill with some length, showing a pull approach in BP with lift. Advanced pop for his size, exit velo 84 mph that will likely grow quickly as he matures. Behind the dish, uses a narrow set-up, average actions, an over the top slot, 2.27-2.4 pop, 65 mph. Runs a 7.5 60.

 

 

Seth Johnson C / OF / Broken Arrow, OK / 2020

A lean 5-foot-9, 175-pound frame. The right-handed hitter uses a balanced athletic stance, simple, short swing, and flat bat path that will play at a high level as he continues to add strength. Current exit velo of 74 mph.  In the outfield, shows deliberate and clean actions, big crow hop, short arm action, over the top slot, some accuracy, 73 mph. Runs a 7.6 60. 

 

 

Creed Killgore SS / 2B / Shawnee, OK / 2019

A 6-foot, 145-pound frame with lots of room to add size and strength. Killgore's developing quick twitch athleticism and long legs allow him to run a 6.87 60. Offensively, the right-handed hitter uses a balanced, athletic set up with rhythm in his hands. Loads with a moderate hanging leg kick, is short to the ball with a flat path and excellent extension. Showed a middle of the field line drive approach, finding consistent barrel in BP. Exit velo of 81 mph. At short stop, shows consistent clean actions, throws from multiple arm angles, 76 across the diamond with accuracy. On the mound, uses a deliberate delivery that speeds up right before foot strike. Throws from an over the top slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 75-78 mph. Curveball has 12/6 rolling action at 64-65. Changeup has some fade 67-68. 

 

 

Riley Lowry LHP / 1B / Mount Saint Mary, OK / 2019

A well-built 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame with long legs. On the mound, the left-hander uses a very deliberate, very low effort delivery, reaches back toward third base before coming through a 3/4 slot. Fastball shows some downhill action with slight run and sink, 76-79 mph. Curveball has 1/7 shape with depth and gradual break. Changeup keeps its plane, 60-64 mph. Offensively, the left-handed hitter uses an upright, back leg heavy set-up, uses a reverse toe-tap and long stride for timing. Stayed inside the baseball with loose hands in BP, all fields, flat approach. 77 mph exit velo.  In the outfield, clean and sure actions, some stiffness in the throw, 78 mph with run. 

 

 

Michael Marin RHP / C / Barnsdall, OK / 2020

A developing 5-foot-8, 165-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter uses a back leg heavy set-up with a moderate leg kick and a long, sweeping, flat, bat path. Hit balls to all fields. Exit velo of 79 mph. In the outfield, athletic and confident actions, charges the ball on the ground very well. Throws from a high-3/4 slot with excellent accuracy putting every throw on the bag, 76 mph. On the mound, the right-hander uses a slightly up-tempo delivery, pausing briefly at the top of the leg lift. Throws from a 3/4 slot with some quickness. Fastball keeps its plane, 77-79 mph consistently around the zone. Curveball has 11/5 shape with depth and gradual break, 61-62. Changeup shows some fade 68-69 mph. 

 

 

 

Cade McAlister OF / 2B / Southmoore , OK / 2019

A long-limbed 5-foot-11, 155-pound frame with lots of room to add size and strength. The right-handed hitter uses an upright, narrow, open stance, with a knee-knock leg kick for timing. Swing path has length and is flat through extension. In the outfield, uses a double shuffle instead of a crow hop. Keeps a short front side, short stride, and throws from a low 3/4 slot, 71 mph with some accuracy. Runs a 7.53 60. 

 

 

 

Conley Rae LHP / 1B / Union, OK / 2020

An advanced body, especially for his age, with a 6-foot-5, 210-pound frame. On the mound, the left-hander uses an average tempo-delivery with rhythm, full arm circle, and high-3/4 slot. Fastball has some downhill tilt around the strike zone, 72-75 mph. Curveball shows 12/6 action when down in the zone, still developing. Changeup shows some sink, 61-64 mph. Offensively, the right-handed hitter starts from a narrow, open, and upright stance, uses a moderate leg kick for timing, long stride, and gets separation during the load. Bat path is flat to contact with a high finish. Exit velo of 77 mph. Showed a middle to opposite field approach in BP with some lift. At first base, deliberate actions with average hands, 71 mph to third base with accuracy. Runs an 8.14 60. 

 

 

Cade Ryan SS / RHP / Edmond Memorial, OK / 2019

A 5-foot-11, 165-pound lean frame. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a balanced, upright set-up. Uses a big, hanging leg kick, slightly uphill path with good extension and a high finish. Sprayed the ball to all fields in BP, 73 mph exit velo. On the infield, shows good hands and average feet. Some stiffness in the throw from an over the top slot, some accuracy, 76 mph across the diamond. Runs a 7.1 60. On the mound, the right-hander uses an average tempo delivery with a high leg kick, full arm circle and over the top slot. Fastball has some downhill plane, 77-82 mph. Curveball shows depth with 11/5 shape and gradual break, 60-63 mph. Changeup has some fade, 65-67 mph. In the zone with all three pitches. 

 

 

Scott Torkleson C / SS / Cascia Hall, OK / 2019

The 6-foot, 155-pound frame has lots of room to add size and strength. Behind the dish, Torkleson stands out with soft hands, quick feet, quick clean exchanges and a high-3/4 slot with a quick release. Throws 74 mph from behind the plate with a 1.87-2.0 pop. Offensively, the right-handed hitter uses a narrow, upright, and open set up with an aggressive, and big leg kick for timing. Shows quick hands and some wiry strength with some length in the swing, middle pull approach in BP, some barrels, 81 mph exit velo. Runs a 6.94 60. 

 

 

 

Chase Wetwiska RHP / OF / Bethany, OK / 2018

A proportional 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame with strength. Wetwiska shows enough stuff on the mound and strength at the dish to be a possible two-way player at the next level. On the mound, works from an up-tempo delivery with a high leg kick and quick arm coming through a 3/4 slot. Fastball is commanded in the bottom of the zone and sits 82-83 with so much sink that it resembles a split-finger at times. Slider has tight spin with 10/4 shape and late depth, 75-76 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape with tight spin, 73-74. All three pitches for strikes. Offensively, the right-handed hitter uses a wide stance, small stride, and smooth load as he shows a middle to pull approach with lift in BP, barrels almost every ball, 87 mph exit velo. In the outfield, shows clean actions, fields the ball deep. Throws from a high-3/4 slot with run, 84 mph. Runs a 7.32 60. 

 

 

Conner Womack SS / OF / Miami, OK / 2019

A 5-foot-11, 168-pound frame with long legs and room to add strength. Womack's speed is his biggest tool, running a 6.65 60. Offensively, the right handed hitter uses an open, relaxed stance, short to the ball and a flat path through contact. Shows a middle of the field line drive approach, 75 mph exit velo. On the infield, shows active feet and soft, consistent hands. Throws from a low-3/4 slot, 65 mph. 

 

 

Kyle Woods RHP / 3B / Mount Saint Mary, OK / 2019

A 6-foot, 165-pound frame with room to add strength. On the mound, the right-hander works from a smooth and deliberate delivery with a high 3/4 slot, some stiffness in the arm. Fastball shows some arm side run, 76-78 mph, controlled in the zone. Curveball shows 11/5 shape with depth and gradual break. Changeup has some fade at 65-66 mph. Offensively, the right-handed hitter swings from a narrow, upright stance. Woods uses a slight leg kick for time, is short to the ball with quick hands and a flat path showing the ability to hit the ball to all fields in BP. Exit velo of 84 mph. Runs a 7.53 60. Defensively, profiles best at third base with an over the top slot, 76 mph, and consistent hands.
