In 2021 Matt Brown's Sandites fell just short of making it to the State Tournament with a young roster in what felt like a year ahead of schedule.  They took their lumps in losing multiple one run games but stayed true to playing their younger players and it has paid off in a big way.  The Sandites have one of the best winning percentages in Oklahoma thanks to the players playing with a ton of confidence that you can see from the bleachers.  What makes them special is the amount of depth they have on the mound led by Jabe Schlehuber who has turned himself into a true ace.  They can go to several arms throughout the postseason including Jace Arnold, Kayden Campbell, Eli Buxton, and Carson Seabolt all showing they can get it done in big games throughout the year.  Offensively they have one of the more explosive lineups that have handled good pitching all year long.  Keaton Campbell has had a resurgent year with the bat and still provides excellent defense at short.  Dominic Ornelas continues to get better each time we see and provides a nice physical presence to the lineup.  Ty Pennington has had added a real veteran experience to the lineup and Gabe Glenn has picked up big hits throughout the season.  With the amount of pitching depth and guys hitting at a high level, the Sandites look poised at a run for a State Title.

 

ENID PLAINSMEN

Coach Gore's Plainsmen have quietly put together one of the better resumes heading into the postseason play after another strong April.  The schedule got tougher in the second half in the season and Enid more than held their own picking up 4 power 25 wins in the second half of the season.  Sitting in the middle of the lineup is one of the best switch hitters in the country in Sophomore Garrett Shull.  Shull has one of the best swings in the country from both sides of the plate and can really hurt opposing teams with not only damage with the bat but also on the bases.  Aydan Voitik does a good job of setting up the offense out of the top of the order and Mccage Hartling is turning into one of the better catchers in the state for his class.  On the mound Jake Kennedy has the type of arm that can beat anyone in the state when he is on with a sweeping breaking ball and heavy sink on the fastball.  Enid is a very scrappy team that cannot be taken lightly as they have proven time and time again that they know what it takes to win.  With the star-power in the lineup it makes Enid a very scary opponent in postseason play.

 

PONCA CITY WILDCATS

The overall record for Casey Love's Ponca City squad doesn't tell the whole story as they have dropped 7 games by two runs or less and putting scares into some of the top teams in the State.  The offense is paced by catcher Carson Williams who could play in almost any lineup in the State as well as providing good defense from behind the plate.  Tabron Stanton brings a physical presence in the lineup and is a primary run-producer in the middle.  Gavin Cunningham has done a good job of setting the table at the top of the lineup.  On the mound the Wildcats are led by the talented sophomore Brody Wicker who has shown the ability to miss bats and pitch deep into games against talented lineups.  The Wildcats have a good mix of younger and older players and with Wicker on the mound they have a chance to play spoiler in this regional.

 

BOOKER T WASHINGTON HORNETS

Coach Potocnik's Hornets squad enters the postseason with an experienced roster and a couple of impact type players that should not be taken lightly.  The results haven't been as good as expected but they do have hitters such as Joe Ijams, Ethan Moore, and Garrett Bacon that can hurt you in the lineup and have had some experience over the years at the Varsity level.  Jesse Slimp on the mound gives the Hornets a guy that has missed bats in the past and a solid option in the first game of the regional.
