Three Top Uncommitted Arms In Oklahoma's 2017 Class

Andy Urban
Oklahoma Scouting Director

Although many arms across the state of Oklahoma have already pledged verbal commitments, quality arms still remain on the open market. Today Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma looks at three unsigned 2017 arms that look to make big pushes before the early signing period.

+ Jacob Schultz, RHP, Westmoore HS,  2017
A 6-foot, 170-pound right-handed pitcher with long limbs. Shultz works from a low-effort controlled delivery, finishing upright and straight forward. A long, loose, whippy arm action from a 3/4 slot. Fastball varies between 82-87 mph with slight run. Secondary stuff includes a slider with 10/4 shape at 70-73 mph, and changeup with slight fade at 73-74 mph, both for strikes.

+ C.J. Scott, RHP, Deer Creek HS, 2017
A 6-foot-1, 225-pound frame, barrel-chested, strong, thick legs.  A simple delivery, high 3/4 slot, fast arm out front, and recoil finish. Scott features a fastball with occasional run at 84-86 mph. Curveball has late 11/5 shape with depth when down in the zone at 71-72, changeup sits 74-76.

+ Austin Warfel, RHP, Westmoore HS, 2017
A 6-foot, 180-pound proportional build. Uses a rhythmic windup, high leg kick, and pulls down hard out front. Fastball sits 85-88 mph and touching 89 mph, effective both up and down in the zone. Shows a changeup at 75-76 mph with fade, thrown to both RHH and LHH effectively. Slider shows late depth at times with 10/4 shape at 75-77 mph. Also throws a tumbling curveball at 71-72 mph.
