Updated Oklahoma 2018 Class Ranknigs

With the spring and most of the summer having passed by since the last Oklahoma 2018 rankings update, there has been quite a bit of shuffling as players have grown and developed even at the very top of the list.

Top 3

Earning the top spot is RHP Tyler Polk (Duncan HS), an Oklahoma State recruit. He recently made a jump from the upper 80s to 94 mph with his sinking fastball and up to 83 mph on a sharp slider. Polk pitches with a simple delivery that he repeats well and possesses a fast arm from a high-3/4 slot.  A well rounded athlete, Polk could possibly be a true two-way player for the Cowboys with a compact stroke, some pop (90 mph exit velo) and enough speed and arm strength to play a corner outfield spot.

Currently ranked No. 2 in the Oklahoma rankings is C Cayden Aldridge (Tahlequah HS). Defensively, the Oklahoma recruit boasts a strong arm with carry and excellent accuracy, showing 1.9-second pop times in games to go along with next-level blocking abilities. At the plate, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound muscular right-handed hitter uses strength and high-end bat speed with a pull approach and extra base pop.  

Rising to the No. 3 spot is SS Ryan Gendron (Bishop Kelley HS). The Oklahoma State recruit missed the majority of the spring season due to injury and has taken some time to find his timing at the plate again, but the bat speed, strength, and athleticism is undeniable. With an impressive 6-foot-4, 195-pound lean and muscular frame, Gendron still moves well in the middle infield, showing excellent hands, good feet, and enough arm strength to stick on the left side of the infield.  

The Risers

During the spring and early summer, a number of prospects have shown they deserved to move up in the rankings. While many made a jump, a few in particular took their game to the next level.

RHP Trey Wolf (Broken Arrow HS), a recent Seminole State JC commit, rose 72 spots as his velo jumped from the mid to upper 80s and the slider developed more late bite.

C Brayden Rodden (Oktaha HS), an uncommitted, small-town prospect with baseball in his blood, moved up 74 spots with the addition of some size and strength. Rodden is arguably the best defensive catcher in the class posting 1.88-2.0 pop times with high-end receiving and blocking. The switch hitter is also very capable at the plate, showing some pop from both sides.

RHP Braden Hill (Edmond North HS), an uncommitted, big-bodied right-hander has seen his movement and deception increase with the lowering of his arm slot, moving up 27 spots in the rankings.

Notable Newcomers

Previously under the radar, a few players have popped up in a big way. Below are a few of the notables.

RHP Jake Thompson (Owasso HS), an uncommitted, long and athletic right-hander that is adding velo and later, tighter action to his breaking ball while still showing above average command.

SS/RHP Grant Harrison (Jones HS), a slender, developing frame with quick twitch actions shows a very quick arm in the infield and on the mound.  

2B Drew Miller (Pryor HS), a projectable frame that shows the ability to consistently find the barrel with extra base juice.
