WESTMOORE JAGUARS

DISTRICT RECORD: 10-4

POWER 25 WINS: 8

Gage Geiger, OF, 2024, Uncommitted

Zane Chavez, INF, 2022, Uncommitted

Connor Cavnar, C, 2024, Uncommitted

Holden Woods, RHP, 2023, Uncommitted

Coach McGuire's Jaguars came right out of the gates hot this season winning 9 of their first 10 games including winning all 5 of their games on a Texas swing establishing themselves as a contender early on in the year.  They went on to pick up 8 wins against Power 25 ranked teams showing their ability to play up to a high level of competition.  Westmoore's calling card is their balance throughout the roster.  There have been multiple guys that have established themselves as productive players with high upside but have largely been winning all season as a collective group instead of a handful of guys getting it done.  The top of the lineup is loaded with exciting young players such as Gage Geiger in the leadoff spot and an emerging Connor Cavnar in the middle of the order.  They play very solid defense especially from the senior infielder Zane Chavez who shows a knack for making plus plays look easy.  On the mound they will use multiple guys to get it done with their strike throwing abilities.  Westmoore will force you to come out and beat them without them beating themselves and have enough firepower on the roster to be a dangerous player in this year's postseason.

MUSTANG BRONCOS

Coach Patterson's Mustangs made a big run to the State Championship game last year falling just short in extra innings and will look to his younger talented roster to try and make another special run in 2022.  The record has been mixed throughout the year which can be expected with punching in a bunch of new players into the lineup and rotation but found their footing in District play picking up 10 wins and just missing out on a chance to host a regional.  It all starts with Mantooth on the mound as he has shown the ability to get it done in big games and forces you to beat him with his strong strike throwing abilities.  They also have the uber-talented Caden Hinther who is a true wildcard in the rotation bolstering one of the better right-handed arms in the state.  Their lineup is full of younger talented hitters that are just beginning to scratch the surface of their abilities.  Hitters like Graham Hylton, Carlos Lopez, and Daniel Yardley have all shown the ability to produce in their first go around as full time guys on Varsity.  The strength of this team is their defense in the middle of the diamond led by the slick fielding shortstop in Taber Stokes.  Last year Mustang made a run with a similar roster and don't be surprised if they gear up for another one in 2022.

PUTNAM CITY PIRATES

OVERALL RECORD: 10-23

DISTRICT RECORD: 3-11

POWER 25 WINS: 0

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Avery Stewart, C/INF, 2024, Uncommitted

Juan Lopez, UTL/P, 2023, Uncommitted

Juan Rojas, INF/RHP, 2023, Uncommitted

Coach Calmus' Pirates enter the regional as the three seed thanks to their 6th place finish in District 1 and picking up the most wins of all the Putnam City high schools with ten.  They feature a very young roster with only one graduating senior giving a lot of the younger players on the roster very valuable varsity level experience.  The bats do have a tendency to get hot scoring at least 9 runs in 8 different games his year.  They took care of business on teams that are more on their level of talent showing good promise for the future of the program.

LAWTON WOLVERINES

OVERALL RECORD: 7-28

DISTRICT RECORD: 2-12

POWER 25 WINS: 0

PLAYERS TO WATCH

LUIS GONAZALEZ-VALCARCEL, OF/P, 2022

ANTONIO GARRISON, OF/INF, 2023

CLAYTON BECKMANN, INF, 2022

Coach Prater's Wolverines have had a bit of a tough go as of late losing their last ten games heading into regional play and giving up double digit runs in all of those contests.  The season got off to a good start winning 4 of their first 6 games and putting up runs in bunches.  The Wolverines are another roster of younger players that are getting valuable Varsity experience with numerous freshman getting time throughout the year.  They will look for that experience to help in development for the next couple of years as there is some optimism for the future with the amount of young guys getting their feet underneath them.
