Our scouting staff has been in Ottawa this week as the top 150 players amateur players across the country assemble for the Blue Jays annual Canadian Futures Showcase.

With the tournament winding down this afternoon as players head back to their respective provinces, we take a look at the players who impressed on the big stage over the past two days.

Lucas Alberti OF / SS / Humberside Collegiate Institute, ON / 2024

Alberti stayed hot at the dish, crushing 2 triples and double. He continues to turn on the inside pitch and drive it with authority.

Austin Boylan 3B / OF / Bill Crothers , ON / 2025

Boylan continues to hit this summer. He crushed a standup triple deep to CF. A mix of some power/average makes him one of the top bats in the class.

Keaton Cottam C / SS / Kings Christian , ON / 2023

Cottam has been a standout behind this dish this week in Ottawa. Receives well and has a strong, accurate throwing arm, there’s some juice in the bat from the right-side as well.

Evan Gunn 2B / SS / Maxwell heights secondary school , ON / 2023

There aren’t many hitters in Ottawa that have the bat speed Gunn has. Whippy through the zone that projects power. He hit a rocket into the RF corner for a triple.

Jason Green C / 3B / Georgetown District High School, ON / 2023

Green crushes a HR to RF that got out in a hurry. The body looks good and the box and there’s some thump in the bat.

Will Hynes RHP / OF / Lorne Park Secondary, ON / 2025

Hynes is easily one of the more projectable arms in Ottawa. Clean/easy delivery with athletic movements on the mound. Has a chance to have 2 very good secondary offerings with the SL and CH.

Tate Carey RHP / C / Riverside Secondary, ON / 2024

Carey is an exciting arm in the ‘24 class. Strong/athletic down the mound, he pounds the zone with all 3 pitches and got tons of soft contact. One of the top arms in the ‘24 class.

Evan Deringer C / 3B / Martin Academy, SK / 2023

Deringer has put together a strong couple of days at the dish. Juice from the right side who looks to always be on time. Dropped the barrel for multiple loud pullside contact.

Leo Cote 3B / RHP / Trinite, QC / 2024

Cote looks right in the box at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds. There’s whip in the bat that plays to all fields for some loud contact. Cote has put together a couple strong runs during the Canada Games, and now the Canadian Futures Showcase.
