Holiday Hitters Series - Toronto: Quick Hits II

Ryan Sattz
Scout, PBR Ontario

The second showcase in our three-part Holiday Hitters Series in Ontario took place on Tuesday, December 29th at NRS Institute in Toronto with our largest group of the holidays, 45 total players.

The event allowed players to update their profile and hitting metrics in an intimate setting with players receiving several rounds of extended batting practice, collecting data through our tech partner TrackMan

Below, we break down five more standouts from the Holiday Hitters event in Toronto with video and reports.

Adam Rich SS / 3B / St.Stephens Secondary School , ON / 2024

Rich, a 5-foot-11, 180-pounds, put together a live round in the box. The swing was level with easy pop to the pull side. The hands worked quick through the zone, stayed balanced on contact and caught everything out front. Will be a name to look out for as an uncommitted 2024.

Preston Vieira C / OF / Maxwell Heights, ON / 2024

Vieira, a 5-foot-10, 165-pounds, looked comfortable in the box working to all parts of the field. The body stands out with noticeable muscle put on this off-season. The swing is smooth with a gap-to-gap approach, looks to hurt baseballs to the left field gap. Vieira had a max exit velocity of 90.5mph and an averag of 83.8mph. Interesting follow for schools looking for an uncommitted catcher.

DJ Mazzaferro SS / RHP / USS, ON / 2026

Mazzaferro, 5-foot-10, 160-pounds, showed a ton of upside in the box. The hands stood out working quick through the ball. Stayed on plane until contact, worked up the middle to pull side with the majority of his hits being on a line. Does not get cheated in the box and will be a player to keep an eye on as one of top 2026 bats.

John Genco SS / RHP / Holy Cross Catholic Academy, ON / 2024

Genco, 5-foot-10, 180-pounds, turned a lot of heads with his rounds on both sides of the plate. The swing was simple, worked up the middle with loud barrels throughout his rounds. Didn’t miss many barrels and showed impressive bat-to-ball skills. Has taken big strides since the last time we saw him and expect to continue that this off-season.

Lucas Trivedi 1B / 3B / Bill Crothers Secondary School, ON / 2024

Trivedi, 6-foot-3, 225-pounds, had one of the more impressive rounds at the Holiday Hitters. The bat speed stands out having one of the top exit velocities on the day at 92.9mph. Looks the part in the box with a strong, physical frame that can elevate the ball. Worked mostly up the middle to pull-side with an impressive sweet spot percentage of 76%. Will be a steal for schools looking for a middle of the order bat to add to the lineup.
