Ryan Galbraith RHP / 1B / Saint John , NB / 2022

Uncommitted 2022 1B/3B Ryan Galbraith is a big bat we saw at the NB New Year Open with a big, strong frame at 6-foot 4, 2010 pounds. Galbraith barrell balls throughout his round, producing loud contact with a 92mph exit velo. He uses his lower half well and keeps the barrel in the zone to allow him to drive the ball all over the field.

He shows good hands in the infield with a good arm (76mph) that fits best with the corner infield. This is an uncommitted guy who will help a team at the next level.

Cedric Leblanc RHP / OF / Mathieu Martin, NB / 2025

2025 RHP/OF Cedric Leblanc was an impressive arm at the NB New Year Open. Tall and lean at 6-foot-0, 155 pounds. Leblanc looks the part and has plenty of room to add strength.

On the bump he controls all three of his pitches with a quick, free arm that allows him to gas it up to 80mph. His secondary pitches are good with a breaking ball and change he can control and has great feel for. Not to mention when he is not dealing he also shows off an exit velo of 82mph and puts down a 7.06 60-yard dash. This 2025 needs to be on your radar.

Alex Peacock RHP / OF / Kennebecasis Valley, NB / 2022

Uncommitted RHP/OF 2022 Alex Peacock impressed at the NB New Year Open. The 6-foot-0, 175 pound right-hander is strong and athletic which allows him to tick his fastball up to 84mph. He mixes in a 12/6 CB that has great depth and a developing changeup that will keep hitters off balance.

Peacock also shows off his athleticism as he can patrol the outfield where that strong arm continues to play. There's pop at the plate with an exit velo of 80mph and he moves well with a 7.22 60-yard dash.

Junior college programs still looking for an arm, this guy is a no-brainer.

Cameron Stewart RHP / 3B / Rothesay High School, NB / 2023

2023 RHP/3B Cameron Stewart shows off complete game at NB New Year Open. The 6-foot-0, 155 pound Stewart passes the eye test and is continuing to add strength. He explodes off the mound with a short quick arm.

The FB topped out at 79mph, the off speed plays and continues to show improvements. In the infield he showed off good hands and a strong arm coming across the diamond at 79mph. The arm is definitely ahead of the bat right now but with continued improvement he has the ability to be a two-way player.

Jack Baxter LHP / Saint Malachy's Memorial , NB / 2024

2024 LHP Jack Baxter is a young arm we saw at the NB New Year Open you want to keep an eye on. Baxter stands 6-foot-2 with room to put on muscle at only 170 pounds.

On the mound the LHP is polished and the stuff plays. The fastball is up to 80mph with movement and is sure to increase with added strength. He supplements the fastball with a good curveball that will miss bats and a changeup to keep hitters honest. This is a 2024 JUCO’s will want to keep an eye on.

Ethan Harty LHP / 1B / Ecole St Anne, NB / 2024

We got our first look at 2024 LHP/1B Ethan Harty at the NB New Year Open. Harty is a left-handed pitcher who stands a lanky 6-foot-1, 170-pounds. He has a repeatable delivery and can bring the heat with his fastball getting up to 80mph. The curveball is good and has a lot of depth to it. He also showed good control of his change with it dropping out of the zone late.

At the dish he continued to impress by putting up a 81mph exit velo that should increase with some mechanical work. At first base he shows soft hands and good footwork around the bag. This is a can’t miss left-hander you’re going to want to keep an eye on.

Matthew Leger RHP / 3B / Rothesay High, NB / 2023

2023 right-hander Matthew Leger joins the list of arms that impressed at the NB New Year Open. As far as first looks go, the 6-foot-4, 175 pounds, Leger could not have made a better impression.

On the mound he was deceptive with his delivery that made his ball jump on you, making the 81mph fastball more effective. With this velocity he still gets cutting action that will cause hitters problems. The off speed stuff will play and the potential is through the roof with added size and strength. This is an arm you want to watch over the next year.

Luke Doucette LHP / 1B / Leo Hayes , NB / 2023

2023 LHP/1B Luke Doucette has another strong showing at NB New Year Open. Doucette continues to impress and improve at showcases. Since the last time we saw the 5-foot-10, 150-pound pitcher in September he has improved his velocity at 74-77mph.

He is composed and confident on the bump, mixing on all 3 of his pitches for strikes. With the mechanics and stuff already there, if Doucette gains more size and strength he will be a dominant pitcher at the next level
