Last weekend our staff was at the Athlete Matrix in Mississauga for the Ontario Blue Jays Scout Day as positional players showcases their talents. We got a look at multiple 2022 draft prospects, one of the top 2023s in the country and a boat load of underclassmen who's names you'll hear plenty more of throughout the next couple years.

We had our TrackMan unit on site to collect data on the hitters and pitchers throughout both days. Below, our scouting staff breaks down three positional prospects, one from the 2022, 2023 and 2024 classes, who impressed last weekend.

Myles Naylor SS / OF / St. Joan of Arc, ON / 2023

Naylor, 6-foot-2, 200-pounds, immediately stands out with his thick, physical frame when he steps into the box. The Texas Tech commit showed why he’s the #1 2023 prospect in the country in the box. Consistently in the 90s, topped at 101 exit velo, Naylor was hitting the ball with authority to the gaps. He uses his body well to create torque and power through the zone. In the field, Naylor was one of the smoother infielders that showed out with a mix of hands and arm strength as he was up to 94 with a quick, loose arm action. Naylor balled out on both sides of the ball and reminded everyone why he is the #1 2023 in the country.

Sam White C / 3B / Aurora, ON / 2022

White, 5-foot-11, 195-pounds, put together a very professional round at the plate at OBJ Scout Day. White is a pure hitter, who’s bat will get him into any lineup. He didn’t miss a barrel in his whole round, the most consistent hitter on the day. White was consistently in the 90’s for exit velo and topped at 100 mph. White showed out behind the play and on the infield as well. Behind the dish, he popped a consistent 1.84-1.94 with a top velo of 80 mph. On the infield, he showed good actions with an INF velo of 89 mph. It’s no secret that the West Virginia commit is a top hitter in his class.

Jesse Dale C / 3B / Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, ON / 2024

Dale, 6-foot, 175-pounds, continues to impress our staff, this time at OBJ Scout Day. In the box, it’s a violent swing. He stays back on the ball nicely and uses his legs to create power to all fields. Dale hit 97 four swings in a row before hitting his top exit velo of 98 mph on the day. It’s safe to say that Dale has the hit and power tool and is a top hitter in his class. Behind the dish, Dale is still a bit raw, but he popped a 1.94-2.15. As Dale continues to mature, consistency behind the dish will come. The uncommitted 2024 catcher will be a close follow over the next couple of years.
