Ontario Blue Jays Scout Day: Quick Hits (Pitchers)
April 13, 2023
On Friday, April 8th, PBR Ontario joined forces with the Ontario Blue Jays for a Scout Day for the second year in a row. We got a look at over 100 players in the organization from the 2023 - 2027 classes with the pitchers throwing bullpens at the Athlete Matrix and the positional players getting outdoors at Kings Christian Collegiate.
It was a loaded roster that included some of the programs top underclass and five committed players, along with highly intriguing uncommitted talent from all classes. Their was a ton of high-level performers as shown by the metrics collected at the event and we continue to break it all down below.
At this event, we retrieved a significant amount of data on each player including: 60-yard times, batting practice measured by TrackMan, catcher pop-times and velocity, outfield evaluation and velocity, infield evaluation and velocity and pitcher bullpens analyzed and assessed by TrackMan. We pride ourselves on utilizing the latest technology in the game to provide the most accurate data for both the player and those recruiting/evaluating the player.
Below, we continue to break down everything we saw from the event with our first set of Quick Hits with provides scouting notes and video on five standout arms.

Owen Slater RHP / Brooklin, ON / 2024Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 4
Slater’s stock continues to trend upwards after he made a jump in velo here now living in the high 8’s with ease. A fluid delivery from a ¾ arm slot, nothing is straight with a ton of ASR on the FB that induced soft contact last summer at the Future Games. The Missouri State commit has tight, horizontal action on the SL and a heavy fading CH. Really good stuff from Slater, he is one of the top 2024 arms in the country and he proved why at OBJ Scout Day.

Lachlan Harrison LHP / OF / Loyola Catholic Secondary School, ON / 2024Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 2
Harrison, 6-foot-4, 205-pounds, is one of the top uncommitted arms left in the country. Clean arm action with extension working down hill with his 85-88 mph FB that he can sink at times. He offers two different breaking balls with the SL having a tighter shape, but they both had sharp bite. The strength/stuff combination is very intriguing. Harrison is a big-time arm that’s still on the board in Canada’s 2024 class.

Logan Forgie LHP / OF / West Carleton, ON / 2026Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 1
‘26 LHP Logan Forgie was another arm that showed well on the mound during OBJ Scout Day. An athletic moving 6-foot, 200-pound physical lefty that owned mid 80’s with ASR from a high ¾ arm slot. He showed an advanced feel to spin the CB lighting up the TrackMan numbers with 2442 RMPs, -14.9 IVB and 11.9 HB. It is developing to be a swing and miss type of pitch for Forgie. This was our first time getting eyes on him since the fall, and he did not disappoint.

justin skorupski SS / OF / st. marcellinus secondary school, ON / 2024Skorupski had one of the top showings on the day at OBJ Scout Day. An athletic 2-way guy that runs a 6.80, swung it well with a gap-to-gap approach and a flat swing path, and picked it with the right actions, clean hands, and arm strength across the diamond at 84 mph. On the mound, Skorupski showed off a live, quick arm with a 87-88 mph FB that was around the zone more often than not. The SL was tight with shape and the CH had downward action. Impressive showing from the uncommitted 2-way prospect who flashed tools on both sides of the ball.

John McDonald RHP / St- Aloysius Gonzaga S.S., ON / 2023McDonald, 5-foot-11, 170-pounds, had possibly the most electric bullpen on the weekend. Aggressive/violent down the mound, really kicks the back leg through competing down in the zone with a 88-90 T91 mph FB that jumped out of his hand. The Sl has cutter-like actions and there's late fade to the CH. Up-tempo delivery with strong mound presence, the Bossier Parish CC commit will look to be an immediate impact arm at the next level.
