Ontario Insider: T12 Outlook - Ontario Green

With T12 starting up on the 14th, we take a look at the Ontario Green team, which consists of 20 players, 19 from Ontario.

Ontario is usually one of the scouts favourites to watch, and this Ontario Green team is full of arms and athletes, and should be one to watch all week.

Four players of the 19 are committed, with the likes of right-handers Ben Abram (Oklahoma), Thomas Murphy (East Tennessee State), middle infielder Cam Sanderson and outfielder Ben Mitchell are both off to University of British Columbia next fall.

The Arms

A well balanced group led by Abram, Green has a string of right-handers with pitchability that they can run out.

Lukas Barry RHP / OF / St Aloysius Gonzaga, ON / 2019

Strike thrower who runs his fastball in the mid-80s. Barry shows good feel for his curveball and changeup, working with a clean delivery and arm action and an uptempo delivery. A 2019 who will make good use of starting with a 1-1 count.

Shane Laforest RHP / OF / Belle River District , ON / 2018

Live, quick arm with a fastball that works in the 83-86 mph range. Spins an overhand curveball with depth that will garner swings and misses.

Dylan Whittaker SS / RHP / Oakville Trafalgar, ON / 2018

Whittaker has added velocity as he has been up to 87 mph and has one of the best curveballs in the province. Arm slot is high-¾ and showed more downhill tilt last outing he had. The stuff is there and with added strength, will be one to keep a close eye on.

Andrew Giorno RHP / OF / St. Michael's College, ON / 2018

Pitchability is a big part of Giorno’s game. Works between 84-86 with run on his fastball while he mixes in changeup with dive and a curveball that he can throw for strikes. Compact delivery with clean actions, Giorno makes quick work of hitters and gets out.

Adam Parker LHP / OF / Sir Oliver Mowat, ON / 2018

Parker is the lone Ontario left-hander on the roster. The lefty has smooth arm action and is a three pitch guy who can throw strikes while his fastball works in the 82-85 range, topping out at 86 mph. Lacks strength at the moment but the ceiling is high for Parker.

Erik Tyler RHP / ON / 2018

Strong right-hander with still some rawness to his delivery, the arm has some whip out front and throws a firm breaking ball with 11/5 shape. Not on a lot of people’s radar, Tyler could have a coming out party as his fastball works in the 85-86 range with more there.

Pay Attention To

Dasan Brown OF / SS / Abbey Park, ON / 2019

Athletic player with lots of tools to his game. Runs a 6.6 sixty with arm strength from the outfield. Still fine tuning his swing at the plate, Brown possesses bat speed and quick twitch actions you look for in a hitter.

David McCabe 3B / Everest Academy, ON / 2018

A switch hitter who has some juice in his bat from both sides of the plate, McCabe shows feel in the box with a strong setup. Hands work in the infield and could see him making the move to first at the next level. Feel to hit and a frame at 6-foot-4 that is only going to get stronger.

Tyler Black SS / RHP / St. Andrews , ON / 2018

Black is a left-handed bat who plays all over the infield as his athleticism allows him to do so. Arm carries across the diamond and has enough to play the left side. Hands work well to contact and gets into balls every now and then and can leave the park. Runs well and plays a hard-nosed style.

Blake Buckle C / 1B / Craig Kielburger , ON / 2019

Left-handed hitting catcher with some physicality to his game. Best tool is the bat, hands work well and shows power to his pull side. Defensively has improved behind the plate, receives well and has shown more agility in lower half. If you like left-handed hitting catchers, Buckle is one to keep an eye on.

Noah London OF / OF / Father Leo Austin Catholic, ON / 2018

Another athlete for Green, London can play all three outfield positions and keeps a simple approach at the plate with a line drive approach, spraying the ball from gap to gap. The arm has some carry and London is a player who is only going to keep getting better.

Get To Know

Ty Imeson SS / 2B / N/A, ON / 2018

Similar style of game as his club teammate Can Sanderson, a left-handed hitter who puts together quality at-bats while playing solid defense up the middle. Runs well and keeps a short swing to contact.

Noah Hull SS / OF / Sir Oliver Mowat, ON / 2019

Was a PBR Future Games participant this year, Hull has a strong frame at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds and puts good swings on balls from the left side. Simple approach in the box with minimal movement, Hull shows signs of being very hitterish and is one of the youngest players on the Green squad.

Udhay Bal SS / 3B / Heart Lake , ON / 2019

Big long levers at 6-foot-3, 193-pounds with strength and some quick twitch to his game. Bal plays third base but could also transform to the outfield and work in as a corner guy as well. There is some bat speed from the right side and chance to add some power down the road.

Ian Jordan C / 3B / ON / 2018

5-foot-11, 190-pounds, Jordan had a great T12 last year and looks to duplicate that again this year. Sound receiver with quality catch and throw skills, the right-handed hitter can play a key role this week for Green while impressing evaluators with his sound play on both sides of the ball.
