Our staff was all over the Greater Toronto Area the past 4-5 days getting a look at players in-game. We had staff in Dorchester and Ajax on Thursday for eight 17U/18U games and then got a look at a trio of impressive underclass arms on Saturday and Sunday.

We had scouts at several other games this weekend beyond those 11 and our staff begins to break it all down below with reports and video on some of the standouts.

Will Hynes RHP / Lorne Park, ON / 2025

Hynes was impressive during his start Saturday night for the 15u Terriers, Hynes overpowered hitters with his mid 80’s FB locating down at the knees more often than not, showing some armside run. Hynes has an effortless, athletic delivery that he repeated well throughout his start. Once Hynes can harness his sharp breaking ball and throw it around the zone more consistently, he is going to be a serious problem to face in the box. The 5-foot-11, 140-pound RHP has plenty on time to add strength and size and reminded us why he is the #1 ranked 2025 in the province.

Jackson kornylo
RHP/ ON / 2024

Sunday, we got our first look at the true 2024 RHP Jackson Kornylo from the Ontario Yankees. We heard the buzz surrounding his name and it was only a matter of time before we got to watch him in game. Kornylo is still raw on the mound, but he has the ability to throw strikes with his FB and CH and use them both effectively off eachother. The FB lives at 83-85, topped 86 and held his velo throughout his first 3 innings. The CH has nice fading action as it approaches the zone at 75-76 that creates swing and misses. A sleeper arm in the 2024 class that has a chance to make some noise this summer in the PBLO.

Jack Ferguson RHP / OF / Thomas A Stewart Secondary, ON / 2023

We got our first in-game look at Ferguson on Thursday and the stuff played well against a good hitting GLC lineup. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-hander was pounding the strike zone with a fastball that sat 83-85 early on, maintaining 82-83 later on in the game. It’s a quick arm from an up-tempo delivery and while the offspeed stuff is still developing, it’s good enough to keep hitters off balance. The fastball gets swing/miss and he’s able to locate to both sides of the plate. An uncommitted arm from Team Ontario to keep tabs on.

Dylan O'Rae SS / Northern, ON / 2022

O’Rae was the most productive bat in Arizona for the Langley Blaze back in March, then he put up some gaudy numbers all month long against pro arms in the Dominican and he was the best player on the field again in Ajax. On Thursday he hit a bomb early on with the bat and followed it up with an inside-the-park HR. He has the best wheels in the country and you could argue it’s the best hit tool as well. Committed to Illinois but should definitely garner plenty of interest come draft time.

Zev Salsberg RHP / OF / TanenbaumCHAT , ON / 2024

Salsberg made his case at the Future Games Trials in April, and he continued to show off his athleticism on the mound. At 6-1, 165lbs, Salsberg got ahead in counts and attacked hitters during a strong outing from the uncommitted 2024 on Saturday. Salsberg sat comfortably in the mid 80s with an up-tempo delivery, and ¾ arm slot. When he works the CH low to his arm side it’s his best pitch at 71-73. When he starts spinning his CB consistently it’ll round out his repertoire nicely. An intriguing arm from his class, Salsberg has a quick arm that could make a jump in the next year.

Jordan Woods LHP / St. Ignatius of Loyola , ON / 2022

Not many pitchers dominate their peers the way Jordan Woods did on Thursday. The ‘22 ETSU commit was lights out in Ajax with 14 strikeouts and only three hits through 5 innings pitched. But most impressive was his control–Woods did not allow a single walk and pounded the strike zone throughout his entire outing. The 6-foot-3 lefty sat 87-90 leaving hitters chasing after his tight breaking ball. Not much more needs to be said about the former JNT left-hander as he continues to tear up league play.

Rocky Johnson OF / 3B / St Michael's College School, ON / 2024

After his showing at the Future Game Trials back in April, our staff was excited to get a look at Rocky in game. He went 5-for-5 with a pair of extra base hits on Thursday against older competition and didn’t look out of place. The uncommitted 2024 had an aggressive approach from the right-side and hit the ball hard with his quick hands and a twitchy swing. The OF/1B shows a strong and projectable frame that will continue to emphasize his power at the plate as he continues to grow. A bat to watch as he develops further.

Myles Naylor SS / OF / St. Joan of Arc, ON / 2023

Naylor was one of just two players to go deep this month with the Junior National Team and flashed that power again on Thursday and Friday. He hit a bomb to left-centre on Thursday and followed it up with another homerun and double on Friday. The right-handed hitter has been a step above the competition throughout league-play as the bat is really starting to come alive. With the draft now just one year away, it’s a big summer for Naylor as the eyes begin shifting towards the 2023 class in less than two months.

Max Zentil RHP / RHP / Richview Collegiate Institute, ON / 2022

Zentil is an arm we’ve been on for several years now and he continues to show well in-game. The size has always been the first thing to jump out at 6-foot-4, 200-pounds and the low 80s fastball comes easy to him. Hitters caught up to the fastball early on and Zentil made the adjustment, moving to the offspeed stuff which allowed him to go the distance on the mound. He flashed a few good sliders throughout the game and there wasn’t much hard contact beyond the first inning. Zentil is an arm from Fieldhouse who looks capable of making outs at the next level.
