Ontario Top Ten Breakdown: Top Viewed Prospect Profiles - #6 Andy Yerzy

Andy Yerzy#7 Andy Yerzy, C, York Mills Collegiate, 2016 (Notre Dame/Arizona Diamonbacks)
Background: Yerzy and his 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame have been known for quite some time now. A member of the Canadian Junior National Team since the age of 15, he has had plenty of exposure over his amateur career. The left-handed hitting catcher has an easy swing and the ability to hit for power to all fields. A lot of his hard contact comes to the middle of the field and the other way, as he showed at Wrigley Field with an opposite field home run in the Under Armour All-America Game. Although he is not a lock to stay behind the plate, the footwork has improved and he receives and throws well enough to be given the chance.

Overview: Yerzy was committed to Notre Dame, but after being drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2nd round, the talented hitter took his talents to the pro level. In the final 2016 prospect rankings, Yerzy came in at the #1 spot in the province while also coming up at the 70th spot overall for PBR.
