PBR Draft 100 Spotlight: Landon Leach

By Nathan Rode
National Supervisor

RHP Landon Leach (Pickering HS, ON) first popped on the draft radar at the 2016 Under Armour Classic with the Toronto Mets. He had to exit his appearance in the second inning with a blister, but that was long enough to make an impression. The Texas recruit pitched in the low 90s and mixed in a sharp slider. He was sitting 92-93 mph again in the fall and continued to show that fastball into the spring, as he traveled with Team Canada to Florida spring training and the Dominican Republic. At the Ontario ProCase, he came from class and capped the day of baseball with a 91-94 fastball. He pitched three innings and was dominant for the first two, losing his command in the third. He walked three and struck out eight. His slider was 82-84 with tilt and late break. After the ProCase, he cemented himself as the No. 1 prospect in Ontario.
