Canadian College/University Showcase: Quick Hits
February 12, 2025
On Saturday, February 8th, the Prep Baseball Ontario staff hosted the annual Canadian College & University Showcase, our first showcase of the 2025 season, at The Yard Athletic Centre in Cambridge, Ontario, home of the Midwestern Ontario Bearcats.
This sold out event featured 65+ prospects in the 2025 and 2026 classes and they had the chance the run through a pro-style workout infront of college coaches from roughly 15 programs, including 12 from Ontario, two from the United States (Genesee CC, Michigan-Deaborn) and Prairie Baseball Academy out of Alberta.
All player ran through a full workout that included batting practice and bullpens captured on our TrackMan and over the next several days we'll be highlighting top performers from the event within our post-event analysis. Stay locked into our social media channels over the next several days as we continue to push out video, leaderboards and more.
Earlier this week, we broke down the top measurable data performers from the event with our Statistical Analysis, Pitching Data Dive and Hitting Data Dive. Now, we will continue to spotlight top performers within this Quick Hits article as we provide scouting and video on six standouts from Sunday.

Matthias Lipka RHP / 3B / St. Martin Secondary School, ON / 2026Rankings StateRank: 19 / POS: 11
Lipka was one of the top arms to take the mound at our Canadian College & University Showcase. The long limbed 6-foot-4, 180-pounder dialled the heater up to 86.8 mph with run and depth to it. Equipped with a breaking ball that showed 11/5 shape with sufficient bite. The wiry framed RHP will continue to add velocity as the body matures and is a name to follow during the summer circuit.

Nash Brophy SS / RHP / Dunnville Secondary School, ON / 2026Brophy has made strides from the last time our staff had eyes on him back in February of last year. He had earned himself a spot at the top of the leaderboard for maximum exit velocities (95.5 mph). In addition, Nash also ranked in the top in hard hit percentage (50%) and sweet spot percentage (66.7%). There is some physicality in the build, standing in at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds. There is room still to add strength and could be a name that makes an impact at the next level.

Hudson Marshall OF / CCVI, ON / 2025An athletic kid with evident twitch in the swing. Marshall was one of the standout performers on both sides of the ball and had garnered attention from evaluators. Displayed one of the highest outfield velocities clocking in as high as 88.9 mph. Furthermore, Hudson generated the second highest exit velocity (97.1%) at our event. The 5-foot-11,175-pounder should continue to improve as the body fills out.

Jacob Doucette OF / Canisius HS, ON / 2025Doucette is an intriguing player with tools that can make an immediate impact at the next level. Jacob eclipsed the others when it came to peak exit velocity (97.7 mph), maximum distance (345 feet), and hard hit percentage (66%). Performed well on the defensive side by recording a 85.5 mph outfield velocity. The 6-foot, 170-pounder looks to be a good get for college programs looking for an outfielder.
