Holiday Hitters - Durham Region: Quick Hits

Cam Black-Araujo
Assistant Director, Canada

On Tuesday, December 17th, the Prep Baseball Ontario staff hosted the first of two annual Holiday Hitters Showcases (Hitters Only) with the Holiday Hitters - Durham Region at Competitive Edge in Ajax, Ontario... The home of the Ontario Yankees. This event featured roughly 45 players in 2025 - 2029 classes in the Durham area and allowed our staff an opportunity to get an in-depth look at the players, as well as collect updated metrics via our tech partner TrackMan for the final time in 2024.

Holiday Hitters always serve as our final showcases of the year, allowing players one final chance to update their profiles with headshots, video and hitting data before the year concludes. It also gives us a sneak peak at some hitters who are eligible for the Best of the West Tournament, Future Games, Jr. Futures Games, West Coast Games and more (although it does not serve as a qualifier).

Earlier today, we began our post-event coverage highlighting the top TrackMan Hitting metrics collected at the event within our Hitting Data Dive article. Below, we will conclude our post-event coverage with our Quick Hits, providing scouting notes and video on 13 standouts from the event.

HOLIDAY HITTERS - DURHAM REGION: QUICK HITS

Theo Lima OF / RHP / Donald A. Wilson , ON / 2027

Lima put together arguably the best rounds of three rounds of BP on Tuesday (along with Zwarich) where his physicality, strength and quick-twitch muscles were on full display. The right-handed hitter is able to generate hard contact even when he’s not finding the barrel, but lives in the upper-90s, low-100s when he does. Lima's peak exit velocity of 100.9mph was the best on the night (hit 100+ four times), as well as his average exit velocity of 92.8mph. Ontario has two big power hitters atop the 2027 rankings and Lima isn't far behind with the capabilities in his bat.

Cole Zwarich SS / RHP / Bill Crothers, ON / 2027

Zwarich was maybe the biggest winner on the day in terms of development as he put together three straight impressive rounds of BP with consistent back-spin to the back part of the cage. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound shortstop has added noticeable strength and it showed, generated a peak exit velocity of 99.2mph (3rd-best), along with an average of 89.7mph (3rd-best). The Ontario Blue Jays prospect was synced up throughout every round and showed feel for the barrel. Zwarich’s stock is on the rise to close out the year and still has plenty of time to continue progressing throughout the winter so it will be fun to see where he’s at come spring time.

Korbin Greaves 1B / LHP / Pickering, ON / 2027

Greaves was one of several 2027 from the Ontario Yankees program our staff was eager to get eyes on and he didn’t disappoint. Lean, athletic look in the right-side of the box at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds and there’s power potential as he continues to mature. Swing gets started with a big leg-kick and it’s a relatively flat path with direct hands to the ball. Greaves generated a peak exit velocity of 98.9mph (85.7 avg) with a peak distance of 335ft and Sweet Spot % of 68. Greaves also shows potential on the mound as a left-hander and it’s easy to see why he was one of the biggest risers in our recently updated 2027 rankings (up to No. 12).

Talan Cardinal C / 1B / Weston Collegiate Institute , ON / 2025

Cardinal was the top performing senior on the night and his maturity was evident as the physical 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame helped him put together some of the better metrics on the night. Along with the physicality, there’s some bat speed from the right-side of the dish and generated a peak exit velocity of 99.1mph, along with a peak distance of 355ft. Cardinal also attended the NorthEast Senior Games this past summer where he put together a pop-time 1.95 with throws at 79mph. Cardinal needs to be on the immediate radar of junior college programs looking for a catcher next fall.

Isaiah London 3B / RHP / Sir Oliver Mowat, ON / 2027

London was another prospect who really raised his stock at this event as balls were jumping off his right-handed bat. There’s present strength at 6-foot-1, 195-pounds and he does a good job utilizing the lower-half to create leverage with an aggressive finish. His peak exit velocity of 99.6mph was second-best at the event, along with an average exit velocity of 88.4mph. Really good stuff from London and it’s a name you can look for when our updated 2027 rankings roll out in the new year.

Jackson Feggi RHP / OF / Eastview SS, ON / 2025

Feggi was a player our staff was eager to get another look at and he caught our attention as soon as he walked in the building with some added size at 6-foot-1, 170-pounds. Athletic two-way player out of the Astros program with some looseness in the right-handed swing and still plenty more room to fill out and add strength. Generated a peak exit velocity of 93.2mph and distance of 295ft. As he’s continued to grow this past year and into the fall, it’ll be interesting to see where his development is at on the mound in the spring.

Colin Miller C / 1B / Brooklin, ON / 2027

Miller has been on our radar for some time now and his advanced maturity/physicality continues to stand out for his age, allowing him to generate top metrics with his left-handed bat with ease. 6-foot-1, 210-pounds and his profile as a left-handed hitting catcher should have him circled this summer for Division I programs. It’s a pullside approach and catches balls out front, consistently looking to elevate. Miller generated consistent hard contact with a peak exit velocity of 95mph (89.2 avg), peak distance of 337 and Sweet Spot % of 76. One of the top positional players in the 2027 class.

Shayne Gagne C / RHP / Tagwi Secondary school, ON / 2026

Our staff has been a fan of Gagne since we saw him last winter in Ottawa and he continues to flash movements and metrics that will allow him to play baseball in college. Smaller stature at 5-foot-10, 165-pounds and it’s a short, simple right-handed swing that consistently generates line-drive contact to all fields. Peak exit velocity of 88.8mph and distance of 315ft. Showed well behind the dish last winter with pop-times ranging between 1.97-2.00 with some athleticism back there. Overall, an interesting prospect in the Ottawa region that will get looks from NorthEast schools over the next 1.5 years.

Richard Marshall RHP / 3B / ASAD/Brooklin, ON / 2027

While Marshall possesses more upside on the mound, there’s plenty of impact in the bat and he flashed that on Tuesday night. Physical frame with strong lower-half at 6-foot-1, 200-pounds and was getting the barrel on-plane all night with great length after contact. His peak exit velocity of 98.1mph and average of 86mph were both top-five among his class. Marshall has the ability to impact a game on the mound or with the bat, maybe better than anyone in the class. Fun watch going forward as his recruitment will open up on August 1st.

Aidan Narinesingh 1B / OF / Henry Street, ON / 2025

Narinesingh was a name our staff was interested to get another look at as an uncommitted senior with some juice in the right-handed bat. The Ontario Yankees first baseman no doubt possessed some of the better raw power at the event and although it wasn’t his best BP, he was able to flash the power several times on the night. Peak exit velocity of 99mph and average of 90.8mph (2nd-best), along with top distance on the night at 368ft. Junior college programs in need of some thump in the order, Narinesingh is worth a look.

Prescott Sutherland 3B / SS / Bill Crothers, ON / 2028

Sutherland was on our Junior Future Games roster this past summer and has developed well in the time, looking looser in the box and continuing to put up quality offensive metrics. Advanced strength for his age at 5-foot-10, 205-pounds and the right-handed hitter put together the best BP at the event among 2028 and 2029 prospects. Created a peak exit velocity of 91mph and peak distance of 315ft. Strength and some bat speed are a solid foundation for Sutherland with plenty of development to come throughout his high school career.

Marco Cunha 1B / LHP / n/a, ON / 2029

Cunha was the other 2029 to attend and immediately caught our attention with a smooth left-handed swing. It’s an open setup with high-hands before a small leg-kick lines him up and sets him loose with short, direct hands. Cunha came in with an approach and consistently made line-drive contact to the middle portion of the cage. Cunha generated a peak exit velocity of 83.1mph and Sweet Spot % of 65. Great first showing from the Vaughan Vikings two-way.

Atticus Manger C / RHP / TBD, ON / 2029

Our staff first saw Manger at the Freshman Free Showcase in October and we immediately liked what we saw, so we were eager to get a look at the metrics. There’s already some strength there for his age and does a good job syncing up his leg-kick. Advanced in the box for his age with the ability to make adjustments. Generated a peak exit velocity of 80.6mph during his three rounds. Overall, Manger displays feel for the game with good movements in the box and we’re excited to continue following his development.
