Ontario has seen a major spike in Preseason Showcase interest this winter which was led by our first-ever Invite-Only Showcase (not including ProCase) with the Ontario Preseason Invitational. The event, hosted at the Athlete's Turf in Mississauga, will feature 80+ players including several of the top players within their classes from 2025 - 2028.

Beyond the Preseason Invitational, we have several other loaded rosters that filled out the Toronto New Year Invite and the Mississauga Preseason Invite with 80+ players at each, as well. We're now just about a month out from getting our preseason showcase scene underway and we already have a ton of players to highlight ahead of the frenzy where we'll see over 300 players in Ontario alone.

Over the next couple weeks, our staff will be breaking down everything you need to know ahead of the preseason events and we'll continue today with a preview of underclass players to keep an eye on next month at the Invite-Only Ontario Preseason Invitational.

CLASS OF 2027

• RHP Cameron Betts (Midwestern ON Bearcats): Betts impressed at the Bearcats Scout Day with a FB up to 80mph and a good three-pitch mix. Strong, physical frame at 5-foot-11, 195-pounds and will be a player to follow in the PBLO this summer.
• RHP Callum Dickie (Barrie Baycats): Dickie’s development took off on the mound this summer and there’s still more to come. 5-foot-11, 180-pound right-hander with smooth operation and fastball up to 82mph in September.
• LHP/OF Nicholas Emons (Team Ontario Astros): The 5-foot-10, 195-pound Junior Best of the West Participant is one of the better arms in the 2027 class. Present strength in the lower half and should continue to add velocity in the coming years.
• OF/SS Jehmar Harrison (Etobicoke Rangers): Harrison is the 31st-ranked prospect in our 2027 class and it’s been a year since we’ve seen him which has our staff eager to see how far his game has progressed.
• OF Galen Hudel (Great Lake Canadians): Hudel put together a strong summer and solidified himself as a top positional prospect in the 2027 class. This will be Hudel’s first showcase and we’re excited to see where his data and metrics are at. It’s a big year for Hudel as he becomes eligible to communicate with schools on August 1st.
• RHP/SS Colton Lewis (Team Ontario Astros): Lewis is an intriguing arm with a lot of upside in the ‘27 class.  He should continue to grab helium in the coming years with added strength.
• OF/LHP Jaden Simpson (HPP Tigers): Simpson has been a consistent name as one of the top players in the provinces ‘27 class with athletic two-way ability with bat-to-ball, speed, and a reliable arm on the mound and feel to spin. Our staff is intrigued to see the off-season gains at the Ontario Preseason Invitational.
• RHP Tanner Wiens (Fieldhouse Pirates): Wiens looked the part of one of the premier arms in the province at the Toronto Fall ID last October working with a 3-pitch mix for strikes with a top fastball velocity of 85.0 mph. Will be a close follow for college programs heading into August 1st.

CLASS OF 2028

• SS/C Jacob Ault (Great Lake Canadians): Ault recently cracked our 2028 Watch-List and this will be our first look since the 2024 Jr. Future Games. Ault shows all the signs you’d like to see from a freshman who is on the right trajectory.
• RHP/C Westin Merritt (Whitby Canadians): Merritt physically stands out for his age at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds and his game speaks for itself as he’s able to impact games in many different ways between offense, defense and the mound. Merritt also cracked our inaugural 2028 Class Watch-List.
