Ontario Preseason Invitational - Upperclass Preview

Prep Baseball Ontario Staff

Ontario has seen a major spike in Preseason Showcase interest this winter which was led by our first-ever Invite-Only Showcase (not including ProCase) with the Ontario Preseason Invitational. The event, hosted at the Athlete's Turf in Mississauga, will feature 80+ players including several of the top players within their classes from 2025 - 2028.

Beyond the Preseason Invitational, we have several other loaded rosters that filled out the Toronto New Year Invite and the Mississauga Preseason Invite with 80+ players at each, as well. We're now just about a month out from getting our preseason showcase scene underway and we already have a ton of players to highlight ahead of the frenzy where we'll see over 300 players in Ontario alone.

Over the next couple weeks, our staff will be breaking down everything you need to know ahead of the preseason events and we'll begin today with a preview of upperclass players to keep an eye on next month at the Invite-Only Ontario Preseason Invitational.

CLASS OF 2025

  • 2025/26 OF Noah Arkell (HPP Tigers): Arkell will end up being a 2026 which gives him more time to continue boosting his resume as he put together some strong ABs this fall with the HPP Tigers. 6-foot-1, 175-pound left-hander hitter who will be a name for colleges to follow this summer.
  • 2025/26 INF Laurence Aurelio (Fieldhouse Pirates): Aurelio put together a strong two days at the New York State Games back in June. The bat is the carrying tool and our staff is interested to see what numbers he’s able to put up during BP.
  • 2025 C/1B Cam Dube (Ontario Nationals/Wabash Valley): Dube is one of the more impactful bats in the 2025 class in the country with power from the right-side. The Wabash Valley commit looks to carry the momentum gained during last summer into the new year.
  • 2025/26 RHP Zach Duke (Ontario Royals): Duke impressed last summer on multiple occasions, including at the New York State Games. Standing 6-foot-1, 170-pounds, look for Dukes velo and overall stuff to continue to get better with added strength and maturity.
  • 2025/26 RHP Simon Santos (Fieldhouse Pirates): Santos has a chance to put together the loudest bullpen at the Preseason Invitational and our staff is interested to see how the uncommitted 6-foot-2, 198-pound right-hander comes out of the gate.
  • 2025/26 C Dylan Zaretsky (Team Ontario Astros): The 6-foot-3, 215-pound backstop can make an impact at the next level with the bat. Zaretsky was with Prep Baseball Canada National at the Best of the West and with the Ontario Youth Team at the Canada Cup participant this past summer.

CLASS OF 2026

  • SS Robert Omidi (Fieldhouse Pirates/Kentucky): The top 2026 positional player in the country will be in attendance at our first Preseason Invitational and no doubt will have players looking to top his numbers. Omidi will be a fun watch throughout the day and the course of 2025.
  • C/RHP Dominic Fiorenza (Team Ontario Astros): Fiorenza is a strong physical kid that can make an impact on both sides of the ball.  He will be a name to keep tabs on this summer.
  • INF Clark Heimbecker (Ontario Nationals): Heimbecker was another standout from our New York State Games team and put together a strong 2024 campaign. Now an upperclassmen, it’s an important year for Heimbecker and we’re eager to see where his game is at.
  • OF Will Henderson (Fieldhouse Pirates): Henderson put together a strong 2024 campaign as he continued to grow but there’s definitely another level in there and we’re interested to see that in February with other top players.
  • SS Nick Melehes (Great Lake Canadians): Melehes is another player who’s steadily trended upwards over the past couple years but we’re waiting for his game to take off and this might be the year. Already has some college interest with more on the way in 2025.
  • C Gabriel Larocque (Sudbury Voyageurs): One of the premier defensive catchers in the country, Larocque’s catch/throw is elite and the bat continues to trend up with maturity. He will be one of the names 4-year schools need to circle heading into the 2025 season
  • RHP Matthias Lipka (Team Ontario Astros): Lipka is a promising arm out of the Astros program.  We had eyes on him last at the Rogers Centre and looked the part. Registered at 6-foot-4, 180-pounds, with a FB sitting at 86 mph; there’s definitely a lot to like as he continues to mature.
