As we prepare for HS baseball action in Oregon for the first time in over a year, we wanted to revisit our 2021 state rankings and expand our list heading into the season. 

Although 2020 was anything but normal, players made the most of the opportunities they were handed when they could get out on the diamond. 

Whether it was a local tournament, travel ball game or showcase opportunities, there were prospects to follow and watch develop. 

This updated list expands to 125 prospects for the senior class. It will be reworked at the completion of the spring season. 

Since its inception in 2005, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive year-round coverage in every state we are in. The mission of the Prep Baseball Report is to scout and promote amateur baseball - high school, junior college and college - and, ultimately, help athletes achieve their dreams of playing baseball at the next level. 

Rankings are based off evaluations by scouting director Dan Jurik as well as additional PBR scouts across the country who have seen prospects from the state at various events. 

With a majority of the prospects on the list uncommitted, the goal is for this information to help assist college coaches as they look to finalize their recruiting classes and add additional pieces to their roster.

The top 4 players in Oregon have been permanent fixtures towards the top of our state rankings & cemented themselves as national level prospects and all of them land in our Top 500 national rankings. 

Mason Guerra (Westview) hasn’t stopped hitting and doing damage at the plate since he was our initial #1 player in the state back in 2019. The Oregon State commit has been as consistent as they come while continuing to show power to all fields. 

Cam Clayton (Lakeridge) had a huge year in 2020 that began back in July at our 1st PNW ProCase. Despite missing out on the HS season, Clayton ended up participating in the Super 60 and more than held his own on the national stage. The tools continue to develop for the Washington commit. 

Another Super 60 participant, George Eisenhardt (Lakeridge) flashed a big jump in velocity this winter and showed a heavy FB up to 94. With his size, stuff and polish should give him the chance to pitch significant innings early in his career at Xavier. 

Wilson Weber (Barlow) might have one of the highest graded pro tools in the class with his arm strength. The Oregon State commit can absolutely shut down the run game from behind the plate. Offensively his athleticism translates at the plate with impressive bat speed and exciting power potential.

The trio of position players in the 5-7 spots have been on the scene for a long-time and each offer their own unique skill-sets. Josh Schleichardt (Lakeridge) has some of the best swing & rotational metrics you’ll see in an amateur bat. The Utah commit has an immensely high ceiling and has consistently added overall polish to his game in the last 2 years. Malcolm Williams (Lake Oswego) has transitioned from a projectable, multi-sport athlete into a physically imposing presence on the diamond. The actions play on the dirt but there’s enough versatility to handle multiple defensive duties as needed. The Santa Clara commit has shown a mature approach in competition and has feel for spraying contact to all fields.

 Spencer Scott (Grant) can do a bit of everything on the field. Runs well with exceptional arm strength defensively. The future Portland Pilot is a balanced offensive threat with the chance to hit for average and gap-to-gap power. 

Right handed pitchers Harrison Howell (Hood River Valley) and Kyle Sullivan (West Linn) round out the top 10 with C Bennett Thompson (South Medford). Howell has shown a bump in velocity this fall and looks poised to have a big spring season on the bump. Sullivan really attacks hitters with his full arsenal & understands how to manipulate the baseball. Both are committed to Portland. Lastly, Oregon commit Bennett Thompson is a hard nosed, baseball grinder who really competes. Commands the game well from behind the plate and consistently produces quality ABs. 

Outside the Top 10

#12 Keep an eye on LHP Gavin Kleier (Grant) as a prospect who could make a jump into the Top 10 with a big spring. The wiry lefty has a quick, whippy arm and has improved over the last 2 years as his frame matures and adds more physicality. The Portland commit can also snap off a sharp breaking ball with up to 2400 rpm. 

#15 RHP/1B Elias Holbert (Sherwood) makes a jump into the top 15 after a big showing at our Pre-Season Invite. At 6-foot-3, 130 pounds, Holbert has a pro type build and has improved his metrics each time out. His exit velocity has been up to 103 mph and he just recently bumped 90.28 mph with his FB. 

#31 SS/RHP Jacob Fitch (Newberg) is a true 2-way prospect who impacts the game in a lot of ways. The Mt. Hood CC commit has natural INF actions with plenty of bat speed. On the mound his short, compact arm works well with his simple delivery and his breaking ball has the chance to be a true swing and miss offering. 

#77 RHP Ian Delaney (Lincoln) moves into the Top 100 after showing a polished 3 pitch mix and clean, repeatable mechanics this off-season. The FB shows late run and pairs well with a tight SL that comes out of hand with tight spin.
