Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at the State Tournament, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Oregon. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and eventually releasing our preseason Top 25 teams in the state.

Team Outlook:
Tualatin finished the 2022 season with a final record of 16-12 navigating the brutal schedule of the Three Rivers League. The current roster only includes 3 seniors, making them one of the younger teams this upcoming season. While they might have a lot of youth, they bring back some key contributors in the middle of the line-up and have some impact juniors who are ready to make their presence felt. Starting in the middle of the order with power bats ‘24 Ethan Matsuoka (Portland) and ‘25 Isaac Pfeifer (Arizona State). The 2 Division 1 bound sluggers offer the ability to hit for average while also producing consistent power from the right side. Matsuoka handles INF duties while Pfeifer will be a vocal leader as a backstop and has the potential to come in late and close things out on the mound. Senior Cooper Newton should provide some offensive help around Matsuoka and Pfeifer while also getting starts on the mound. While the Timberwolves don’t bring back a lot of pitching experience, look for ‘24 Nolan McCormack to take a big step forward and play a much bigger role this year on the mound. Junior LHP/OF Brandon Goodell is another name to watch as a lefty arm who could contribute early on. A couple junior bats we’re high on heading into the season are Ervin Dorsett III and Glen Maduro III, both of whom showed well at previous workouts and have the potential to contribute on offense as they gain experience. In the sophomore class, Brayden Buck is a riser to keep an eye on. The strong framed OF’er swings an aggressive stick from the left side and has big arm strength to work with. With the balanced line-up, Tualatin looks poised to be consistent on offense this season and if the pitching develops as hoped they should see some improvement in the wins column this season.
