Overall Summary

Canby looks to be one of the better 5A sides this spring, returning much of their roster after a 26-6 2024 record. The Cougars are headlined by INF/RHP and Arizona Christian commit Brady Ackerman. The senior hit a remarkable .435 last season in addition to having a 1.02 ERA in over 20 innings. Fellow senior INF Hayden Davis is a great contact bat that should return to the top of the lineup. Senior 1B Colby Herren provides some thump in the middle of the order, and impressed in multiple looks at Prep Baseball events last year. The pitching is an area to watch for the Cougars, who lose two of their innings leaders from the 2024 season. Sophomore RHP and JFG alum Jack Brauckmiller pitched remarkably as a freshman, to the tune of a 1.67 ERA in 46 innings. Brauckmiller will likely shoulder heavy innings again this spring. Senior RHP/SS Dylan Nelson had some success on the mound in limited action and could see more innings. Nelson also slots in to play shortstop for Canby. The Cougars have some matchups to circle against Sunset, Central Catholic and Tualatin to highlight their 2025 schedule. Look for Canby to have another strong season and be one of the teams to beat in Oregon 5A baseball.
