Overall Summary

Sunset enters the season as one of the favorites for a 6A state title after falling just short last spring. The Apollos are led by the top ranked senior and reigning Prep Baseball Oregon Player of the Year Kruz Schoolcraft. The LHP/1B has an imposing 6'8 presence, with wipeout stuff on the mound to go alongside plus power at the plate. Schoolcraft is committed to the University of Tennessee but has a high chance to play professionally straight out of high school due to his massive upside. Behind the plate, senior catcher Dakota Chun is a leader with plenty of pop in his bat. The 17th ranked senior in the state is committed to play at the University of Portland. The senior class and lineup will get a big boost from incoming transfer and USC Upstate outfielder Gabriel Coltman, who possesses standout physical tools. A pair of RHP's will also help eat innings on the mound in Will Slater and Parker Raubuch. Slater is an Eastern Oregon commit with some physicality that may also step in to play some infield. Raubuch is a Centralia College commit with polish that fills up the strike zone. Several underclassman have a chance to step in to a varsity role this spring. Freshman INF Marcus Pollard is a player to watch, with some wiry athleticism. Pollard is the 7th ranked 2028 in Oregon. Ryan Gresham and Koen Hall are sophomores that could also see increased playing time. Head coach John Barnes is circling games with West Linn, Jesuit, and Thurston as some of the standout matchups of the spring. Look for Sunset to be right in the mix for a 6A title and be a force again this season.
