Fall Notes: 2024 MINF Prospects

The Ridgefield Fall Open on October 15th consisted of prospects from the 2023-2026 classes. These players went through a pro-style workout and took batting practice using Trackman to record hitting metrics. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing.

Brooks Avery SS / 2B / Roseburg, OR / 20245’8, 140 with lean, wiry strength. Tall, upright stance at the plate with relaxed posture. Lower half slightly open to pitcher. Uses a low leg lift into a quick hover on backside. Has some length in forward stride to get into a wider hitting base. Quiet hands during load with a short, subtle move to create separation. Loose, easy swing with a whippy barrel into contact. Gap to gap power. Mostly line drive contact with consistent lift. Hitterish actions. Defensively, light on his feet with clean actions and body control. Plays low easily when on the move. Confident glove hand when funneling ball in. Fuller arm path into high ¾ release. Lowered slot when moving up the middle/in on the ball. Quick feeds on DP ball. Understands speed of the play and doesn’t get rushed. Looks poised to stay on the dirt long-term. |

Berkley Reents SS / C / Wilsonville, OR / 20245’8, 150 with a compact frame and athletic build. Offensively starts in a wider, slightly open base with front side narrowly open to pitcher. Short, low leg lift into forward stride. Hands stay above rear shoulder with subtle rhythm prior to landing. Rotates easily into contact with a flat swing path built to spray line drive contact to all fields. Controls the hands throughout and can manipulate his barrel as needed. Easy bat speed with chance to build more power as he gets stronger. Defensively showcased quick, active feet with the ability to get momentum through the play and work around the ball. Solid body control when ranging laterally, especially up the middle. Frame and mobility help him stay low throughout. Soft glove hand when receiving. Quick exchange into low ¾ slot. |

Adyn Turpin SS / 3B / West Salem, OR / 20246’0, 180 with strength in lower half. Sets up in the box with a crouched, open stance and bend in his lower half. Shifts weight back as he gets into a medium height leg lift. Hands stay above rear shoulder as he uses more of a scap load to help create tension against lower half. Stays in legs with a shorter forward stride and limited move. Very level swing path that covers depth throughout the zone. Mostly line drive contact but has easy lift to pull-side. Controlled intent in swing. Defensively starts in a wide base and lets ball travel into his set-up as he gets a deep funnel into his glove hand. Has long levers in lower half and uses a low hip hinge to get down to the ball. Slight glove tap for rhythm on the exchange. Compact arm path with a ¾ release. Stays behind the ball and comes through with momentum on the play. |
