Future Games Spotlight - George Eisenhardt

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

Atlanta, GA - This past weekend, uncommitted ‘21 RHP George Eisenhardt (Lakeridge) had the chance to compete in the 2019 Future Games. This one-of-a-kind event featured the best uncommitted Class of 2021 and 2022 prospects from our 40-plus state coverage area.

Eisenhardt was a member of Team Select, which consisted of various players from 14 different states. The Select roster is comprised of players who come from states that either don’t have their own team participating in the Future Games or they burst onto the scene late and were a last minute addition.

The Prep Baseball Report Future Games is the premier summer scouting event for uncommitted players entering their Junior or Sophomore year. This year, more than 300 college coaches from all over the country were in attendance.

Over the course of game action, Eisenhardt made 2 appearances. He pitched 2 innings on Thursday and then bounced back to throw another inning of action on Saturday.

Eisenhardt came out in his first appearance and sat mostly 87-88 mph with his FB. He topped at 89 and never dipped below 85. Earlier this spring, he was sitting mostly 83-87 so it’s encouraging to see that the FB has made a jump and that he can maintain his newfound velocity. The FB plays up due to his deceptive arm action and low ¾ release point. Hides the ball well after hand break and the low effort delivery causes the ball to jump on hitters with sneaky life. When he keeps the FB down, it’s difficult for hitters to elevate anything and he routinely generated ground ball contact.

Eisenhardt found most of his success with his FB but showed flashes of the rest of his arsenal across his 3 innings of work. The breaking ball has developed into more of a true slider and has better velo than it did this spring. The breaking ball came in between 67-72 at Future Games and shows its best shape/depth in the 70-72 range. With a lower arm slot, it will be important for Eisenhardt to stay on top of the baseball and avoid creating too much lateral shape to the offering. Lastly, his CH shows potential to be a consistent offering and is right around a 10 mph speed differential, coming in at 79-81. The CH features sink/bore type action as it gets thru the zone. Projects to be at least an average offering.

Eisenhardt has made considerable progress in the last few months and should continue to improve before his HS days are over. The 3 pitch-mix and low effort delivery give him the opportunity to stick as a starter in the long-run. He has firmly established himself as one of the top uncommitted arms in the Pacific Northwest.
