Most Viewed Profiles of 2020 - John Taylor

At the #3 spot for our countdown of the most viewed profiles of the year is '20 John Taylor (Lakeridge)

Taylor looked poised to have a huge year offensively in 2020 but unfortunately never had the chance to take the field as a senior due to covid-19. The gritty infielder plays the game hard at all times and is a true baseball junkie. Defensively he profiles well for the INF with a short, compact upper half and quick defensive actions. Offensively, he really developed physically in a short period of time and turned into a legitimate power threat from the left side. He had a strong performance at our ProCase in July and we're excited to see how his tools will develop at Salt Lake CC.

Scouting Report

7/01/20

Strong, physically mature frame with powerful levers at 6-foot, 185 pounds. Sets up at the plate with an open, slightly crouched stance with low hand placement. Shows slight rhythm/movement with barrel as upper half stays relaxed. Closes off his alignment with a leg-kick load into an average length forward stride. Short, compact hand load that syncs up with his lower half. Lands in a balanced hitting position with weight centered. Noticeable quickness and strength in the hands with a loud, powerful barrel at the point of contact. Aggressive rotation through contact that gets his whole body involved. Showed some adjustability and stayed in his legs throughout BP. Defensively, tools profile well to corner INF. Starts in a narrow, upright set up before taking a slight pre-pitch hop into his first step. Keeps upper half upright and sinks into his hips to work down to the ball. Funnels into exchange quickly with a glove tap to create rhythm. Short, compact arm action with hand speed at release. Strong armed defender.
