Prep Baseball Report

Oregon 2025 Rankings Update

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

Last Thursday we kicked off rankings week with an update to the class of 2024. Today we continue our updates with the 2025 class. Headlined by a strong Top 10, the vasty majority of this list remains uncommitted and will look to assert themselves for coaches and evaluators this upcoming summer.

Since its inception in 2005, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive year-round coverage in every state we are in. The mission of the Prep Baseball Report is to scout and promote amateur baseball - high school, junior college and college - and, ultimately, help athletes achieve theirs of playing baseball at the next level.

Rankings are based on evaluations by scouting director Dan Jurik as well as additional PBR scouts across the country who have seen prospects from the state at various events.

The goal is for this information to help assist college coaches as they look to finalize their recruiting classes and add additional pieces to their roster.

RANK   NAME STATE SCHOOL CLASS POS COMMITMENT

5 Connor Molony OR Thurston 2025 3B Oregon
6 Connor Parry OR Sherwood 2025 RHP
7 Slater de Brun OR Summit 2025 OF
8 Kellen Wood OR Mountainside 2025 C Portland
9 Jayden Nakamura OR Aloha 2025 SS Washington
10 Kainoa Santiago OR Jesuit 2025 OF Gonzaga

NEW NO. 1

‘25 RHP/3B River Hamilton (Barlow) takes over the #1 spot for the first time. The Oregon State commit is a high caliber baseball athlete with terrific size and projection. At 6’2 about 170-175, the frame fits perfectly on the mound while also profiling at his current 3B position. Frame is capable of handling more weight and he should fill out rather easily throughout the next 2 years. While he’s been a bit hampered this season on the pitching side, he’s stil managed to punch out 19 batters in 8 innings with only 2 BB.

2 uncommitted newcomers to watch in the Top 10 are ‘25 RHP/3B Connor Parry (Sherwood) and ‘25 OF Slater de Brun (Summit). Parry is a multi-sport athlete with a long, lanky build and loose actions. The arm talent has stood out the most this spring and he’s put up some gaudy numbers on the mound, including firing a Perfect Game. Slater de Brun has next level speed that plays well in the OF. Pair the athleticism with his ability to swing it from the left side and it gives him an ideal profile that coaches tend to covet. A speedy LH bat that can stay in CF at the next level.

‘25 Jayden Nakamura (Aloha) and ‘25 Kainoa Santiago (Jesuit) both enter the Top 10 for the first time, Nakamura, a Washington commit. has great feel for the barrel with his quick LH swing and can produce LD contact to all fields. Santiago, a Gonzaga commit, has a very similar profile as a left-handed hitter and has proven to be able to get to his ‘A’ swing in game against advanced pitching.

Newcomers…

#14 ‘25 OF/RHP Noah Scharer (South Salem) put together a well-rounded performance at our Preseason All State and hasn’t looked back since. Strongly built with powerful levers at 6’0, 190. Scharer does an exceptional job of playing up to his tools when it matters in game. Plays very fast between the lines. The bat has really impressed on multiple live looks this spring & he’s one of the top uncommitted hitters left on the board in the class. He also has 2-way ability on the mound but the bat has really stood out the most this spring.

#24 ‘25 SS Drew Bartels (Blanchet Catholic) shows great size and fluid actions on defense for a wide framed SS. Footwork moves at a smooth, steady pace & he comes through the play with momentum. Offensively it’s a flatter, line drive type approach that works the middle of the field. But he has shown ability to get the barrel head out there and lift to his pull-side

#26 ‘25 Dakota Chun (Sunset) was another standout performer from our Preseason events that has continued to impress throughout the spring. A compact, sturdy frame at 5’10, 230. Chun uses his powerful levers to impact the baseball with a tight, compact swing. Stays extremely connected at the point of contact causing the baseball to jump when he squares it up. Defensively he profiles well behind the plate or could likely handle a corner INF spot if needed as well.
